I hope so my 94 F150 302 4x4 gets better mileage than my 07 F150 4x4 truck I drive at work.

I'm In the market for one . Finally like body style . But they have to get MPG up .

i don't see that thing getting the mpg they claim... the hybrid tahoe at 5500 lbs gets 20/20mpg, with an already efficient (compared to the toyota 4.7) LS gas engine. Toyota seems to be putting a lil' too much faith into the whole hybrid thing, and sooner or later people will realize it in the US as they did in europe, hybrids aren't the way to go...

God why do people always use rednecks as a put down. You know what the term redneck originaly ment? It was people who opposed to what the goverment was doing. Goverment raises taxes people dont like it, those people were considerd rednecks. Its those city slickers fault for turning redneck a bad name with the whole doing your cousin crap. I'd like to see any one of those people who posted on that try and step foot in a pasture and run cattle. If it wasnt for "rednecks" they wouldnt have there precius meats that keeps them going each day...

fuel mileage???

If you take all the posts about this subject you will find that most of the people looking to buy a new 150 you will see that this is not that big of a subject. Now that toyota is going to go for the mpg's I bet it is going to be now. this is going to be a funny thread because every time I have said mpg's need to get better I am told if that is important to me I should buy a focus. Looks like ford better do something now.

Maybe its because many people who are white trash both in and out of cities have taken over the term "red neck" and applied it to themselves, leaving true "red necks" in want of a new term.

There have been many true farmer red necks in my family, and they were neither ignorant nor dumb.

City slickers have confused everything regarding "rednecks". They confuse redneck and white trash. You don't have to be white to be a redneck. Rednecks wond the battle at Kings Mountain during the Revolutionary war. If it wasn't for rednecks, we would probably still have a queen or king.

I guess I'm just a Hillbilly with a college degree.

Rednecks also almost won the civil war. If the messenger wouldnt have left the message telling Lee were to go (for the battle of getty's burg) then a union scout wouldnt have found them and more than likely the south would have won because the brittish and french were going to allie the south. (because they needed the cotton) But the south lost so much at that battle that they saw no point because the confederates were done for. Sorry about all this I didnt mean to stray people of he topic but I get real heated when people talk like that.

Anyways, I have a hard time beliveing that article. Plus the truck must be huge to fit the hybrid stuff along with the 400 horse v8.

Is there really anything wrong with a monarchy? We still have the queen up here in Canada but we also have our own government, seems to work pretty good that way.

The monarchy's role in canada is purely symbolic. Many older laws include reference to the queen, but I can assure our american friends that the queen plays no role in the political landscape of canada. Quietly most canadians don't really care if all ties to the monarchy are cut off, but there are more important things to deal with.

As for the tundra..........

I research EVs and sometimes hybrids in my spare time (bit of a hobby for the last 10 years). The 20-25 MPG is certainly possible, but you have to remember what the prius had when it first came out. The EPA gave it a free pass by how they tested the car with unrealistic driving style. Long story short, the MPG estimate went from 70 MPG to 50 even though it was the same car.

The advantage of hybrids is that you can use a battery pack to give you the seat of the pants acceleration while the engine runs at a more constant load. This truck is probably a parallel hybrid like all the other hybrids.

If they ever build a SERIES hybrid, I will be the first to buy one, and promptly start modding it (way more potential).

Weight and luxury items are a big mpg killer....

Last Ford pickup I bought was a new 1978 stepside with a 300 inch six and 4 speed manual O/D trans. Got great mileage and weighed probably 1500-200 lbs less than the current beasts. It had rubber mats and windows with cranks, although I did order A/C and had a decent FM stereo radio/cassette player put into it.

The newer Ford pickups are as large as the Queen Mary, have a 12 foot lift height to get stuff into the bed, and are packed with sound insulation, DVD systems, climate control, 10-way leather seats with heaters and coolers, 355/70x24" tires, etc.

I'd like to see Ford actually build a real truck again. Maybe I'd go with power windows for the current day and age, but I'll stick with rubber mats, a stick shift, and a little road noise if they could keep the darn thing lighter, simpler, and more economical.

.......also consider the overall frontal cross section of the trucks that are made these days. They are much taller than your old 78 (or my 86 F150), with huge wheels by comparison. It looks tuff, but that look will cost you.
