Does anyone know if the 5.4 with 4.10s in a one ton dump truck would be any better than a v10 with 4.30s, this truck will be hauling a 20 ft landscape trailer and mulch 45% of the time. It will be used as apersonal vehicle also. I am going with one of the two gassers because diesel is a $4.35pergallon vs $3.30 for 87 octane. What would the mileage emty be between the two trucs that i am thinking about. Thanks for the helpha

 

The V10 would definitely pull better.

 

v10 with 4.30's will pull like a diesel. v8 with 4.10s will be nicer on your wallet. the v8 will get the job done easily. i opt for the v8 since your loads will be under 10k assumingly

 

the v10 will get better gas milage.the truck will weigh 10,000 empty.to much work for a small v8.

The v8 will have to work alot harder to pull the weight=more gas
The v10 works less+less gas


I have the V10 in my f250, the MPG are not to bad. just dont let the tank go to E

fill it up all the time, so the price to fill up is 20-30 bucks, not 80-100 if it was on E
