08 Exp XLT

Well, after two weeks of thinking about it and talking myself into, then out of and back into it, I picked up an 08 XLT yesterday. I traded in my 02 Eddie Bauer, and I have to say, I am not sorry I did it. What a great truck. Rides much nicer, a ton more power than the 4.6 my 02 had, and much nicer looking. To top it off, I got a fantastic deal, so I am really looking forward to owning this vehicle. I was surprised at how many options this XLT had that were similar or better than the 02 Eddie Bauer had. The only thing it doesnt have that I wish it did is the memory seats. I can not believe the difference in power, throttle response and how the transmission feels, and the brakes are much better too. I owe a bit of it to you guys on here, I have been reading the postings and with the positive thoughts on how you guys liked it, that pushed me over the edge. Thanks for all the info.

Congratulations!

Did you get the Standard 3.31 Rear Axle or the Optional 3.73 Rear Axle?

How about the Optional Heavy Duty Tow Package?

The dealer tossed the stupid window sticker when they detailed it before I drove it home, and I honestly don't remember which axle it had, I do know it is coded 15 on the data tag. It did not come with the optional heavy duty tow package either, but thats ok, I dont do much towing. I will probably slap a big honkin' trans cooler on it though, you cant be too safe. I took a road trip to Fl and back this weekend, 450 miles each way. Averaged 20.9 on the way down with the a/c on most of the day and cruise set to 75. Averaged 20.2 on the way back, again, cruise set at 75 and some a/c early on. Ran like a champ, I love the fact that the extra power keeps it from having to downshift so much on the hills, which along with having a/c on killed the hwy mpg's on my old 4.6 Expy, couldnt do better than 17 with a/c on. I Have been getting close to 15mpg around town. Again, I can begin to stress how happy I am so far with this truck, and it looks darn good in redfire metallic to top it off.

Nice to hear that you like your new XLT

It appears that your have the Standard 3.31 rear axle (rear axle code 15)

It is better on gas MPG and is still rated to tow 6,000lbs
