Little diesels

Was in S. Africa a couple of years ago on safari. ALL the guides used small trucks with non-turbo charged diesels....Ford, mazda, land rover, toyota. They loved them because they had enough grunt to get through the bush and were still simple enough plus they ran for ever. And let me tell you if you think you drive in harsh conditions....give it up. I went 10 days without seeing a paved road and it was literally like someone was throwing handfulls of sand and dust at you at every chance.......I still have some socks that are stained red from it.

I have a 51 F1 pu that I would love putting a smal Diesel into if I could get 40+ MPG. It is getting a Mustange II front end with disk brakes , power rack and air bags then out back I have a 95 T-bird IRS with an 8.8 diff, disk brakes and bags. This will sit on the running boards when aired out so it will be a nice street truck but how cool would a truck like this be with a good MPG diesel in it. Power is not a huge concern as long as it can get out of it's own shadow and cruse at freeway speed. Might start a whole new craze in the hot rod world

Not a chance...
In case you were wondering what the specs are:
Ford Australia - Focus TDCi
(Mine also has a Superchips BlueFin tuner, I have disabled the EGR and it has propane injection)
I will try and post a picture of it up later this evening

Having had a bit to do with importing vehicles to other countries before... there is FAR too much work involved.
Ensuring its crash and emissions compliant (which the later... it may not be, I am not sure, it might only pass with using the propane injection and I am not sure whether that would be sufficient) is a lot of hard work and time and costs money.
Not to mention the cost, you would be looking at around US$3-4k to ship it over in a 20ft container (and that is the only way I would get it shipped, the corrosion problems, and exposing your vehicle to be driven by wharf workers is not a great idea), and it would take probably 6 weeks between me leaving it here, and me driving it there (that assumes no problems being able to get it compliant... a VERY big assumption)
Also, I could sell the car here for more than what I paid (I am eligible for A plan, so I got 15% off the retail price) and buy probably 4 second hand Foci over there for the same price (vehicles are $$$ here) that would cost maybe a little more to run (even if they don't go as fast)
And I would still have a vehicle with the steering wheel on the wrong side.
With all those factors thrown in, in my opinion its not worth it.

Our Focus is actually a pretty good car.
Most of the rest of the world stopped selling "your" focus about 3 years ago, this Focus is based on the same platform as the Mazda 3 and the Volvo C30/S40/V50 with different engines/transmissions (although the 225hp 5cyl turbo Volvo 2.5 is available in the Focus).
And its pretty mechanically similar to the Mazda, only it rides/handles better and is quieter.
It doesn't look as good as the Mazda though in my opinion (either inside or out)
