I dont really have faith in a ford focus at all, and dont really like them at all, but i would trade my civic for a diesel focus in a second if they were around here!

Was in S. Africa a couple of years ago on safari. ALL the guides used small trucks with non-turbo charged diesels....Ford, mazda, land rover, toyota. They loved them because they had enough grunt to get through the bush and were still simple enough plus they ran for ever. And let me tell you if you think you drive in harsh conditions....give it up. I went 10 days without seeing a paved road and it was literally like someone was throwing handfulls of sand and dust at you at every chance.......I still have some socks that are stained red from it.

This will sit on the running boards when aired out so it will be a nice street truck but how cool would a truck like this be with a good MPG diesel in it. Power is not a huge concern as long as it can get out of it's own shadow and cruse at freeway speed. Might start a whole new craze in the hot rod world

like they said on the other post get a 4bt cummings with the chevy adpter and you be happy... now I had a freind the had a perkins diesel that hooked up to his factory 4 speed... (was in a combine?) but top speed was 65 down hill with wind (4.10's 4 speed no turbo) then it got 30 mpg..

Not a chance...

In case you were wondering what the specs are:
Ford Australia - Focus TDCi

(Mine also has a Superchips BlueFin tuner, I have disabled the EGR and it has propane injection)
I will try and post a picture of it up later this evening

Really? I bet you could get rid of it very easy over here, and make good use of it lol.

Must be a good reason, cant quite fit it in your suitcase? haha

Having had a bit to do with importing vehicles to other countries before... there is FAR too much work involved.
Ensuring its crash and emissions compliant (which the later... it may not be, I am not sure, it might only pass with using the propane injection and I am not sure whether that would be sufficient) is a lot of hard work and time and costs money.
Not to mention the cost, you would be looking at around US$3-4k to ship it over in a 20ft container (and that is the only way I would get it shipped, the corrosion problems, and exposing your vehicle to be driven by wharf workers is not a great idea), and it would take probably 6 weeks between me leaving it here, and me driving it there (that assumes no problems being able to get it compliant... a VERY big assumption)

Also, I could sell the car here for more than what I paid (I am eligible for A plan, so I got 15% off the retail price) and buy probably 4 second hand Foci over there for the same price (vehicles are $$$ here) that would cost maybe a little more to run (even if they don't go as fast)

And I would still have a vehicle with the steering wheel on the wrong side.
With all those factors thrown in, in my opinion its not worth it.

That makes alot of sence yes. I didnt realize vehicles were so much down there.

Like i said before, Im not a focus loving guy at all, but that diesel focus is cool! 6 speed manual in er even, that thing would rock up here!

Our Focus is actually a pretty good car.

Most of the rest of the world stopped selling "your" focus about 3 years ago, this Focus is based on the same platform as the Mazda 3 and the Volvo C30/S40/V50 with different engines/transmissions (although the 225hp 5cyl turbo Volvo 2.5 is available in the Focus).
And its pretty mechanically similar to the Mazda, only it rides/handles better and is quieter.
It doesn't look as good as the Mazda though in my opinion (either inside or out)

I have a '02 Focus Mach Audio ZTS that is fun to drive, gets 30 mpg, but is small. The wife is driving it now until I get her something else and then I'll park the F150 and drive the Focus. Overall, it's not a bad car for the money.

Wow hit the search and you'll find almost anything your looking for. I'm looking for a small truck for my dad that is a 5spd and is diesel. I think my best find so far is a D50. Too bad they didn't make a small ranger with a diesel or at least i haven't found one.

I would think that they would pass muster to get into the USA ... Just need to mirror it left to right ...
