Bill, FYI 3800 lbs is about what a 100 will weigh, I would think 4500 would be closer.
Big T, Don't know how important it is, but look around for a local bulk feed store, truck stop, maybe take a load of junk to the land field or scrap dealer. Most of those kinds of places have truck scales. You can find out exactly what it weighs.

The shipping weight for a F100 8' Styleside w/a 6 cylinder engine is 3,505 lbs.

I drove my '68 F250 CS across a set of scales shortly after I got it. The bed was empty, about 1/2 full of gas, FE engine/NP435 tranny and it tipped the scales at around 4800 as I recall. I was surprised, didn't expect it to be that much...
Can't believe the frame would weigh 1K more than an F100, there must be a few other things that account for the extra weight over John's truck. I should probably hit the scales again to check it sometime soon.

The above differences would prolly add an additional 300 lbs of weight over a like F100.
Where's the extra 700 lbs?
It all has to do with the "Section Modulus."
The depth and construction of the frame rails.
A 1968 F100 with a 131" wheelbase C channel frame has a section modulus of 3.06 inches.
A 1968 F250 with a 131" wheelbase C channel frame has a section modulus of 3.98 inches.
A 1968 F250 with 4WD and the F350, both with a 131" wheelbase C channel frame has a section modulus of 5.57 inches.
Not only are the frames different depths, but the F250 2WD frame (for example) uses more steel, and hence...is of thicker construction.
Size matters.
