Engine swap 4.2 to 4.6

Looking to purchase a friends 1999 F150 w/ a 4.2 V6 and cracked heads. Found out the trans will bolt up to a 4.6 and it was just replaced. I have easy access to a 4.6. Anyone ever done such a swap? I'm going to do my own exhaust work so that won't be needed from a donor but will I need much of anything else other than the ECU and wiring harness'? Radiator the same? Any and all info welcome!

I'm also wondering how much trouble this would be since I'm having trouble finding the exact truck with options i want. Anyone done it?

You sure about the trans bolting up? I've never heard that, but I could be wrong.

Johnny Langton is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
The transmission will not bolt up to a modular-the 4.2L uses the old small-block pushrod bellhousing pattern.

Ah alright. thanks for the info. I managed to find a truck close to what i wanted.. but needs engine work. The way the guy explained the problem sounded fairly cheap to fix.. but not counting on that. Might just get it professionally rebuilt so i don't have to worry much about it. The truck itself is in pretty good shape and the price is right even if i buy a new motor for it.
