1988 302w SWAP to 1978 400M

1988 302w SWAP to 1978 400M - Okay I have searched the forum and found some info on this, but not specifically what I would like to know. Being a FORD newby (I am actually helping my brother/dad with this project - I have the computer knowledge to find this type of info). We've done swaps before on Jeeps - but never Ford.

So the situation is we have a perfect condition 1978 400M from a F350 recently rebuilt for propane and complete propane system. 2WD F350 with a old T18 4 speed with granny low. The 1988 is an EFI 302w (I think) but the rear main is shot... F150 4x4 with the T18. My question is will the motor mounts, bell housing from the 88 F150 match up to the 78 F350 400m? Or worst case can I take the bell housing off the 78 F350 T18 and mate it to the 88 F150 T18. I don't really want to get into changing anything behind the 88 F150 drive line. Ideas, thoughts - please share. Thanks

I'm not sure about the motor mounts, but I think they have to be changed. The bellhousings will not interchange. A 351w would be a direct swap. I know automatics will not interchange , but I'm not sure about the manuals.

Okay so now with further reading and visual inspection - I can conclude the 400 uses a "big bell" housing with is fine as I have it in the 78 attached to the T18. So to swap this into the 1988 these questions still remain - will motor mounts work? mount towers? I know the 400 is about 115lbs heavier. Also will the pan depth be a problem over the front cross member - it appears the 302 has a rear sump.
