You already have a great current generation truck, trading up would just get you one with that new car smell.

I'd save your pennies and get the '09!

I dunno'...What version of the 08, or 09 are you looking at? STX, XLT, Lariat, KR, HD, Platinum?

Just got an 08 myself. Love the loooks of the 09 but to do over again, I'd either get another 08 or wait until the 2010s come out. Always a few bugs when new styles come out. Found this out when I bought my 1997. New style equalled a bunch of recalls and tsbs.

I just ordered and took delivery of an '08 I was leary of the '09 mostly due to the six speed tranny, even though it comes from the expy I was told it was going to be "reworked for the truck" and I didn't want a first year of that. I will miss the 6'' longer screw and the rear locker but I love my new truck and can always add a locker.

Good luck with your choice. Steven

I would pretty much second this, but would change the 2009 for a 2010. That will give time for some of the new features to show any of their initial weaknesses--like the electric locker, capless fuel system, six-speed transmission.

Edit: Hmm...1,000 posts...yay or something.

Depending on price i would be looking at the Lariat, FX4, and the XLT 4x4. I hadnt thought much about waiting for the 2010s, but that may be the route i take.
I havent had any problems with my truck and ive finally got it the way i want it. I added King Ranch wheels and BFG tires and changed the exhaust the day after i bought it.
The only problem is if i wait on the 2010 ill most likely have close to 100k miles on this truck.

Thanks to everyone for the input.

I was going to wait for the 09, but with all of the great rebates now on the 08's, it was a no brainer for me. You can be sure there will be no rebates on the 09's when they first come out. I feel the 08 crew cab will be big enough for my needs so mine should be here in about 6 weeks. I am not too crazy about the new look of the f150. To me the three bar grill is being overused by Ford. Yes the six speed transmission would be nice but I am sure I will be happy with my 08 FX4.

I would not buy the 09. Like everyone else has stated above, its gonna have problems that need to be ironed out. With a little luck you will get a good one but life is to short to spend it driving back and forth to the dealership.

I'd wait until 2010 and in the mean time, I'd enjoy the '06 because I know it's a nice ride.

I'd wait for the 2010 mainly because of the new powertrains that are coming out then, 100k miles isn't that much.

I'd have to say skip the 09', I just put the deposit on my 08 FX2 tonight We'll see how this diesel is in 2010 and maybe for 2011 after the bugs are worked out it will be worth considering!
