Trailer Light Connections

So, it finally happened, the vulnerable trailer connections on my truck have took a brutal beating from gravel roads. Most notably the 4 prong plug attached to the side of the round plug hole. It is actually hanging by the wires. And the wiring to the round plug looks like a dog has chewed on it. So before I go and replace it, I want to know if anybody has rigged up a plate or some kind of protection for the back side of the connections? Pictures would be best, I don't want some ugly peice of metal hanging there if I don't have too. I have put a total of 15,000 kms on the truck since I have had it, and those trailer connecters looked almost new when I got it. Any pictures/insight/ideas are welcome! Thanks.

Wiring greif

Been their It,s a pain those gravel road just eat every thing. I live in mb.I found that you put a 6 wire round plug socket on and use a adapter and under the the truck use Heater hose and split it a side it over the wires and tie wrap the hose. Best of luck with those wires.

Thanks for the reply. Thats a good idea with the heater hose. My other thought was heat shrink tubing. I think the hose idea is tougher though. Thanks again.
