Question about my Mufflers?

I just put a new muffler on my f-250 with a 400. I has single exhaust so i decided i would like it louder so i put a new glasspack muffler(cherry bomb was the name) But it was no louder it sounded the same.

Can anyone tell me why?, because i had a 78 f-150 with a 302 dual exhaust with the same mufflers except a little shorter and it was loud.

Thanks alot ,

Joe

Question about my Mufflers?

The shorter the pipe is after the glasspack is the louder i just run a single right now it dumps off right before the rear axle and its loud but do not use exhaust clamps weld it on i have had mine blown off many times tromping on it.

Question about my Mufflers?

If all you care about is noise take off the glass pack put on headers and turn downs (no muffs) and believe me you'll have noise, no low end but it will be loud. The best sound comes from stock manifolds 2 1/4 pipes to a set of turbo tubes(made by Walker) and pipes all the way to the bumper. Glass packs work but actually have more back pressure than turbos. 351M's and 400's are hard to get noise out of because of the big valves and low compression.
