why no 6.2 engine yet?

we got the dodge ram and the chevy(some) getting up around the 380 HP range, and the little 5.4 in pushing what, 310 ponies?

thats pathetic, for the best truck in the world being left in the dust like this is just bad.

they should atleast make the 6.2 boss or whatever it is called an option of 09 while making the 5.4 also.

i really dont care about gas mileage, HP is all that matters in the 150/1500's.

Sounds like you'd be better off with a toyota if horsepower is all that matters to you.

1. 310 ponies? where'd ya get that number...motortrend? If so...then that makes sense why you only need the top horsepower number.....Ford hasn't released hp numbers yet...so cool down a bit till they do....

2. Why is hp all that matters in a 150? Please explain why torque, gear ratios, build quality, and reliability aren't important.

3. Why didn't hp matter in 04, 05, 06, 07 or 08.....but suddenly is important in 09?

and the 6.2 just might not be done yet....ford doesn't want to rush it to market and have cam problems like the yotas......or tranny problems like the dodges.......

1. im guessing based on what i read here and read on other web sites. also, ford hasnt really upted the HP numbers in the f150 in recent years. 310 is ballpark for my guestimate.

2. for me, i dont tow or haul anything with trucks. i need trucks for the 4x4 and the bed for light work/ transporting lawnmowers. i dont need my 150 to pull boats or trailers etc. if i did, thats what the 250's are there for. load those up with torque, HP is better for the 150 since its lighter and can hual ass!

alot of us dont use trucks for towing, just for the 4x4 and i kinda like the performance trucks (chevy ss, dodge srt-10) and just wished ford offered a base kick ass engine.

3. HP matters in 03 04 05 06 07 and 08 but we never got it in the fords, i was just wishfull we would see it in the 09

you don't even know whats going to be offered for 09, no official releases on numbers yet. When they do come out with it then you'll be able to bitch and moan about it but as of right now, none of us know what the #'s will be

1. Your guessing? Thats a dumb thing to do when you want people to agree with you on the lack of availablity of engine choices....

2. your statement about hp is better for the 150 makes me believe that you know nothing about hp or torque....torque is what makes your truck haul ass off the line.....

The SS is nothing to brag about. I SMOKED one of those with a 02 superduty. Maybe you should look for a 03 lighting. It will definatly smoke the tundra and the SS. As for the srt maybe a pully swap and some tunes and you will be leaving them to your rear view mirror.

i heard somewhere the 5.4 would be putting out 325 its a rumor i would imagine thats just a rumor.and for all the hp i dont find it necessary.but when u look at an average guy that doesnt kno much about trucks, which truck do u think theyll be more likely to get the 315 hp 5.4 or the 380 hp tundra.i dont kno the torque curve for a tundra but i kno u need to rev the 4.6 pretty high to get power the 5.4 does pretty good at low rpms, and that means a lot to me.

well if you ask what the average guy buys....i'd look at the fact that ford, gmc, and chevy make up about 80 percent of the large truck market, and none of them have over 330 hp.....i'd say the average guy doesn't buy HP......which lends me to ask...what kind of guys do buy HP?

What? Even excluding the Denali, Gm currently has 367hp in 6.0L V8 available in the 1500's. Come fall w/09 model they will have 6.2L (w/a 6 speed) with even more. Check your facts...

go ask a gm dealership what percentage of their trucks (1500) sell with a 6L vs a 5.3L.......a friend of mine who works at a chevy dealership says they sell approx 95% of the trucks with a 5.3L NOT the 6.0L ......

I'm fairly confident that ford has factored this in when deciding when and if to release a large displacement v8 for half tons.....when also keeping in mind theres now places in the country where gas is hitting 4 dollars a gallon.....
