I think he's a 6.0L Power Stroke owner,in which case the white smoke may be a head gasket failure?

Uh-Oh

It's only happened once...and only lasted for about 10-15 minutes. Should I be headed back to the dealer??

happened once if it was especially cold out then it could be your piston sleves and rings were expanding/contracting and some oil probably seeped into the cylinder

for gas motors general rule is white smoke oil in cylinder black too much gas.

if it happened once its probably nothing to worry about. if it happens again i would look for something wrong

Once isn't a big deal....twice, it's time for a visit to a dealership so they can lie to you.

Did I say that outloud?

something like white smoke can be so many things that a dealer, unless you got a good one, is goin to blow it off

Moved to the 6.0L PSD section (assuming this is a 6.0).

07 F250 Aggie Mobile, do me a favor and edit your signature to reflect what engine your truck has. It's nice to know the color but it doesn't help when folks are trying to diagnose an engine problem.

Is the 2006 Super Duty in question a different truck than the 07 in your sig?

If it keeps happening then chances are that the egr cooler has failed. good luck and keep us posted.

Only??? 10mins is way too long for the truck to blow white smoke. If it was for 10-15secs then it could be normal. I don't think headgasket/bolt issues rear their head on cold starts....more while towing or while hot. ask them to pressure test the coolant system

The EGR cooler on mine has gone out twice in the last year 2005 F250 in the last year it is in the shop right now for the second time the smoke starts out a little then it will come out until the engine warms up eventually it will go out completely then you will see blue smoke along with the white smoke I was told that once the EGR cooler goes the oil cooler will follow hope this helps

If still under engine warranty. Go directly to dealer. Pay the $100 deductable and have no worries as to what it might be.

The oil cooler "can" become plugged due to the sand in the cooling system when the block was made which will cause the EGR cooler to get hot and fail (install a dieselsite coolant bypass filter - it's worth the money). I am assuming when your egr cooler failed the dealer didn't replace the oil cooler. I had to take my truck to another dealer in town to have it fixed right. If your truck is still at the dealer ask them to replace the oil cooler.
