how would this look ?

just wondering what everyone on the board thinks....

im thinking of leaving the f4 fenders on my 49 when i convert to the f1"ish" style
so the box is going to have the smaller wheel arches and the fronts will have the wider ones...i plan on running at least a 18" rim in front...

and also do you think it would look ok having the f4 fronts and opening the rear fender arches to match the fronts....

just throwing out some ideas, im always trying to do somthing different(difficult)

thanks

-steve

I think guys worry too much about the difference. I've been running my truck that way for almost 7 years. I run 215/85R/16's tires inside F3 front fenders with the F1 rears. See what you think. For other views check my gallery.

not as bad as i thought it'd look . opening the rear wheel arches is gonna take a lot of talent , experience and money for said individual , to make it look right . so if you can live with it ........... i'm still up in the air on my f-4 as no one seems to want her , and i dunno outside of getting it up under it's own power what im gonna do with it ..............

your right mtflat. its not as noticable as i thought it would be and to the intrainded eye you cant tell.

and as far as opening them i thought either using a set of fronts and cutting out the arches and fitting them to the rears or using the fronts and making a template to open up the reast and using some round bar to make that rolled edge on the inside...but after seeing your truck im might just call it good

Here's another thing to consider: If you go with a lighter color exterior the bigger opening will be more visible. Dark colors help it disappear.

The top picture shows the difference at it's worst. Most of the time I forget they're not the same - in fact I'm not sure the opening in F2 rear fenders are much different than the F1's.

If it will bother you don't try to make do with 'good enuf'. I would go with F1 fronts if I could find a set that were solid. My temporary solution is on its way to becoming permanent...........

Eastwood sells a fender lip roller if you think it will make it easier. If I may suggest: Line up some 2" masking tape surrounding the fender edge all the way around. This will give you a 2" opening to follow. Take another 2" piece of masking tape and border it along the other to make it 4" wide all around. Now using a 3" or so roller, just roll some black paint (or other really dark color) onto the 2" tape. when dried, remove the outer 2" tape, leaving you a 2" wide blackened area surroundingthe fenderwell. In low light, it might give ya an idea to what it would look like.
