Why Ford trucks

I'm more a Chevrolet person, but....as much as I like the good old late fiftys Chev trucks, I have not been impressed with any Chev or GM trucks since then.
Its that VAT of rust they dip them in that I don't like, and the styling is just horrible. Ford in my opinion makes a nice body, and they did just great on the 96 model as far as painting and rust proofing the cab and sheet steel.
In my opinion Mopar has the worst flimsy body of all, I don't know about now, but from 84 back to 74 I am not impressed, thin tinny junkers they are.

looks. that is it. of course with looks comes how they perform, but the performance is not much different between the 3 trucks.

and now, after owning so many over the years, a tad bit of nostalgia involved.

Looks and build quality are why I bought my truck and Expedition. While in my truck the 5.4L is "adaquate", I wish I had more power in the Expedition.

Both have been rock solid dependable and all the spark plugs have stayed where they are supposed to. ( knock on wood )

I like most trucks but the Fords suit me best. All be it I probably wont ever buy another Ford 1/2er (at least not a new one) until they can compete I dont think there is much argument that Fords have the best 3/4 and 1 ton gas motor around. I probably wont buy another Ford deisel for awhile either for the same reason as the 5.4 but with the numbers the V10 puts out and for how much less they are to buy/maintenance/at the pump, I really have no reason to buy a Ford Deisel.

On an unrelated note, has anybody noticed the amount of 3/4 and 1 ton gas trucks that are pretty much just being given away on ebay? IDK whats going on but it would appear that they damn sure arent worth as much as they used to be. Perhaps society is getting over the fad that its cool to have a big truck for a daily driver?

Or perhaps 4 dollar a gallon gas prices isn't cool either.

I bought my Ford because I had a Ford before and the dealer was very nice to work with. I originally wanted a Dodge, but the dealer treated my like a punk with no money, so I went up the street to the Ford dealer. Chevy/GMC was a non issue for me, I would have just kept my 92 F150 before I bought a GM truck. I was raised anti-gm truck and the japanese trucks don't offer anything I want.

I don't think Chevy's made a decent truck since '87. Sorry, but IFS torsion bar front suspension can kiss my ***. Plus they made the same damn body style for 11 years ('88-99) with virtually no changes to the styling whatsoever. A '99 looked almost exactly like an '89.

Sure, the '73-87 ran for longer, but at least they made SOME changes to the styling, and it had some redeeming qualities (like a solid front axle with leaf springs).

I agree..I had both Ford and Chevy in my fleet..When I bought the 2 "88" Chevys and they sat at the dealer for 7 weeks waiting Tranys that changed my mind in a hurray..

2x for tranys before 5000 miles....

That is why I only have Fords now..

i have always hated the chevy truck interior after 1988. the dash layout is the dumbest design of about any car ever.

I used to have a couple of older chevy trucks 1973, and 1974. I found that they did rust pretty good. The 350 motor was a really good motor though, I beat the ever livinghell out of it, and it asked me for more. The turbo 350 tranny, and the one turbo 40 tranny I had were both rock solid.

I chose ford because my dad had good luck with them. So far i have had really good luck with them too. The trucks have all had some small rust issues, and Im really not impressed with that, but what can ya do. I like the styling, ride, reliability and power.

When i first got my 89 f150 with the 302 5 speed, I was hard on it. One year i didnt chainge the oil all year lol. She still runs like a top to this day though. Gotta do some rust repair, and give the ol gal some loving to make up form younger years now!
