Hi guys, just bought a 2005 F150 Maroon clearcoat Lariat today and would like to know the answers to the following questions

1/ best treatment for surface like scratches
2/ best treatment for deeper scratches but not through to bare metal
3/ 2 buttons immediately next to the on/vol button missing

and also best warranty available (truck is in perfect condition but you never know what could happen)

Thanking you in anticipation David

I personally think those aftermarket warranties are crooks. You don't get something for nothing, from an OEM you pay quite a bit up front and they try like heck not to pay out.

Light scratches are tricky. Some are in the wax, some are in the clear coat. Either way, I would start with mother's three phase wax system. Pre-wax cleaner will strip back some of the old wax. The sealer and glazer is the key, it will fill in tiny scratches and blend them back in. I love the way it looks when it's waxed and perfect.

Deep scratches are bad, if your finger nail hangs up in it then your going to need to touch up. Dealerships get the best color match, but professional paint shops can mix enamel pretty close with your paint code.

For the buttons, that's odd. Either visit the junk yards and try to scavenge one, buy a replacement radio or try your local dealers to see if they have a part number for just that button. It's not common for them to have radio buttons, but it never hurts to try.

Look, see these two tow hooks? They look like tusks. And what kind of animal has tusks?

there's a very fine line between not listening, and not caring. I like to think that I walk that line every day of my life.

A light polish should get rid of those surface scratches or atleast blend them in..where as the deeper ones may need a touch up,,or the whole panel repainted.
I've delt a great deal with for parts departments and i know its very rare for them to have buttons laying around, your better off going to one of the techs theres a greater chance one of them will have one in there tool box or know of an old radio they can atleast pull one off of.
