I want to put leveling springs in the front of my truck. It's goin in the shop wednesdy night of next week for front end work. I thought about puttin the springs in tuesday night and driving the truck to school on wednesday and then take it to the shop. the camber on the front is already out some due to the idiots that worked on it last. do you think the camber would be out way to much to even drive it after the springs? how much harm will it do to just drive it 15 miles max?
your camber is way out of whack, with the leveling kit it will get a good bit worse but for a quick drive it wont hurt anything. just wont steer too well
well thats the thing i think i might just wait on it because i want the camber to be what it is now so then they know what they are workin with. plus i don't know if i'm gonna need new u bolts or not so i might just take a weekend sometime and then get it realigned. 50 bucks aint that much. except it could be fuel money.
they should come with all you need, the bolts should be ok if i recall correctly, i would have to double check that one or somebody who has done a level kit recently can chime in,
well its just the springs. its not the kit. he said he believed the bolts would be long enough but in case they're not i want to have time to work on it. hes giving me the springs for free because they have be sittin in his garage takin up space. he said just have them so then they are gettin put to use. he does custom lift stuff on jeeps and trucks. hes got a toyota picup with a 3 foot lift and a 6.9 cummins in it. talk about somethin to drewl over.
ah ok, then you will at least need new center pins, they will be too short. i'm still not sure on the u-bolts, how much shaft is sticking through the nuts on yours?
Yes you will need new center pins but the u-bolts have always been long enough for me. 15 miles will be fine to drive before you get the alignment done. Just remember though it will require camber bushings and the labor to install them. It won't be a $49.99 alignment.
