use veggie oil for fuel? I'm seriously thinking of converting my truck because of the insane diesel prices. Tell me the disadvantages that you have experienced or know of with use veggie oil as fuel.

also still need to have a tank with some diesel in it to start and stop engine on. Veg will coagulate and harden in the engine not allowing it to turn over

Definately want to filter it a few times to get out the sediment, like Joe said a heater will be needed. Probably still need to mix during the winter. Is their a "grease car" setup to fit the psd?

we had a guy come in my last dealer with the veggie conversion kit on his obs diesel. it was plagued with problems. just from dealing with him and seeing the money jhe was spending it sounds more like you are better off running biodiesel

WVO is a viable option but its not as easy as pulling up to a WVO dumpster and filling up. It must be filtered and dewatered. Even though its oil it can have water in solution from frozen food and what not. Dewatering usually requires heating and circulating. I am doing BioD. Spent a better part of today try to find more sources for oil. Its getting hard to find them. many resturants are now getting paid $100 a dumpster for their oil from the Rendering companies. NOT GOOD!!

Remember, running a tank heater is also going to cause more moisture in your tank. The reason the big rigs have them is because they are on all the time.
