Back in 1958 when I was 12 yrs of age, I saw a '57 Fleetside in one of the little pages magazines that had done an article on what some 'new cars' looked like in modified form. It was a small window with steel wheels and dog dish caps, whitewall big & little's and a pretty deep rake (nose down). Something about that thing that just stuck in my mind all these years.
Now my all-time favorite is my '56 Big Window which has been completed since '02. But before it was even finished I saw an ad in a shop -pictures included- for a '57 Custom Cab Big Window shortbed styleside (fleetside). I talked my wife into going out to look it over and after convincing her that I had to have it, I promised that I wouldn't touch it 'til after I retired.
I've been retired for nearly 3 years now and it's out back just callin' my name. I already know how I'm going to build it and what it's going to look like. Most of my friends make snide remarks about it and I just can't believe they don't share my enthusiasm for it, but to each his own. I think they're great looking trucks.
Every time I get on this forum I look for any thread that has something about these unique era of trucks.

In my opinion Bob the 57F100 is the best looking of the 57-60 trucks. I've got a 58 and I like it just fine, but I really think the 2 headlights and the different grill of the 57 make it "simpler" and better looking.

Tomget, there is nothing wrong with the looks of your truck, in fact yours has the start of a very nice looking one, but I personally like the grille of the 57 better, that's only a matter of my opinion and doesn't take anything away of the looks and uniqueness of the 58-60's.
Now I have a question for all reading this thread, does the 57 use the same windshield as the 56? In pictures they look the same or am I missing some details?

No, it does not use the windscreen from the '56.
The '57-'60 series of trucks, Starting w/ the '57 was a Complete Redesign from the top down.
