lol have fte members as your pit crew ..... build em up, and enter 2 or 3 cars
there are many ugly ugly crown vics and grand marquis that are not fit for the road anymore, (not worth repairing) use a couple from the 80's,
the 84 I had took out a steel post (smashed it right over) and didnt even dent the bumper that much (pretty much just a small scuff) didnt stall either, just backed up off of it, and carried on... lol
I know a guy in Dauphin, MB that does the whole demo durby thing

Yep Glen is right on. The old Chrysler Imperials are the best but they are banned at most tracks cause they just don't die. The next best things are the Chevy/Pontiac stationwagons.
Some tips I learned from my boss Dean Matlock: (If you know anything about Demolition Derbies you've heard of him)
1. Spool the rear
2. Run bias tires with tubes
3. Put some extra leafs in the rear springs
4. He ran new ball joints and tie rods in his cars so they didn't fall apart when hit
5. Make a custom transmission shift linkage with a straight rod so you can switch gears faster.
6. Run the door bars so you don't get hurt!
I never got to finish his demolition car this year as he sold it. Dean was merciless in the ring. He put guys in the hospital!

No damage to fords even for a race car?! Thats like never using a truck for a truck at all! Sometiems they need a little using and abusing to have some fun!
Laredo i think thats a great idea, but I can see the money aspect being a problem.
That and it might just be a few of us guys that really believe in fords, and that they could win a race, even while damaged up!

Full size Chrysler station wagon ... 2 feet longer than my f250 ... relocate the fueltank closer to the middle and you have a tonne of rear crunch room behind the rearend ... frames were great too ... Actually just about anything that is big, heavy and has a real frame ... 318, 350, just about anything in that range ...
I once saw a Falcon with 260 v8 ... That thing ran circles around everyone else ... It was light but noone could hit it ...
