How many miles do you have on your Expy?

My last one, a 1999 EB 5.4, was running strong. Everything working. Only issue was a very very small leak at the oil filter housing. Major pain in the butt to work on and I just never drove the thing anymore so i sold it for a grand.
Had 255k on it. Bought it with 160k and the ONLY thing that went wrong was basically a consumable: the alternator.
Couldn't live without an expy outside, even though i don't drive it often, so i went and picked up an 04. Last year of the 2 valve 5.4 from what i hear.
Has 142k now and you'd think by looking at it and driving it it only has 50k.
These trucks are just built so damn well.
I will say that after buying the 04 I missed a few things. Rocker rust. Couldn't believe it. The rockers on these trucks are impossible to see so i cut out and welded in new sections, bond-o'd, primed and sprayed with undercarriage spray. Should keep the rust at bay for the next 5 years i plan on keeping the truck. Also missed the fact the rear wheel bearings where bad. Not making a single noise but would trigger a traction error light.
Damn you Ford for using IRS in the 03+ exps. That's single handedly the dumbest design the have implemented on these trucks since inception.
A live rear axle with limited slip is FAR more durable than IRS. Btw, the ride quality difference is not even noticeable. Hop in an 02 then hop in an 03+, it's no smoother honestly.

had the same thing on my 06. no noise and no symptoms other than the ABS light coming on.

disagree completely on this one ....
I've owned my fair share of IRS and Live axle vehicles (cars and trucks) and the IRS is FAR better on choppy roads. Coming up to stop signs on gravel roads, the live axle trucks (and cars to a lesser degree) always step out sideways, where the expedition doesn't. At least on the roads I drive, the IRS rides MUCH better than anything with a live axle.
sorry to derail the thread....
my expedition is about to turn 168,000

Update to mine, about 64000 km, or almost 40,000 miles on my '05. Just had the entire AC serviced, replaced bearing on the compressor, replaced the front evaporator (not motorcraft, but a taiwanese one), replaced receiver/drier and flushed and cleaned everything. (200 usd labor, 90 usd in parts. gotta love this country, lol! ) and I'm getting it back tomorrow. Been away from my "baby" for almost a week, hopefully gonna be a nice and cold reunion, rather than the firepit of hell (in cabin temp in a tropical climate lacking a working AC at least... ) I left at the workshop last week. hahaha

I got 160191.5 miles showing on my 1999 Expedition EB 5.4 AWD here in PA. Bought it cheap, less then a 1000. lady had it before i did, bought it brand new in 2000 but unfortunately she passed away in 2013 and that's what the inspection sticker has on it.So i am the second owned the truck.Has all oil changes recorded and a few other papers of what work that was done to it.I bought the thing not running i was told it needed fuel pump and brake lines. So after i installed a fuel pump the thing started right up and i was shocked being that it sat for 3 years. The brake lines just rusted from it sitting so long and so did the transmission lines.I got all new lines and the rear trailing arms installed because they were rusted bad.The body is in nice shape but does have a hole in the rocker panel from were it did have running boards on it which i have taken them off. Also the inside of bottom of all 4 of the doors have slight surface rust on them.No dents or scratches though,Paint still shines great,I did have to solder the joint on the radio and the mileage gauge being there was no display.all the wiper blades are junk to be expected. Also i have a power steering line leaking were it threads into the pump,The interior is real nice except the drivers seat is tore and the steering wheel has the die coming off it.but the rear seats don't look like they ever been sat in.Carpet is like mint, everything inside works like it should,Frame and underneath isn't rusty
Thought id post a few pics after i cleaned it up and i've added the hood scoop, smoked cab lights and the 20 light bar

Good luck getting those other little items squared away.

220k miles, bought it dirt cheap !
body and interior is in very good condition, previous owner got tired of dealing with electrical issues (door ajar, drained battery) and stalling (egr, traction control/advancetrac and air suspension issues)
replaced all 3 door ajar sensors, got rid of air suspension and replace with coils from an expy, replaced egr sensor and hoses, replace worn out tires (all 4 in bad shape because of air suspension issues) also got rid of the sliding running boards (an accident waiting to happen because they are rusted badly)
runs like a charm, can't believe these intechs can go this far.
