1998 4.6 4x4 XLT with over 250,000 miles

vechicle has been personally mantained since day one....origional owner.....new ford long block installed at 219,000 and just had the trany rebuilt 3 months ago.....a very dependable vechicle seeing how its on the beach about 60-70 days a year.....Biggest issues has always been keeping front shocks on it.....seem to only last a year at the most.....have tried from $30 shocks to $120 shocks.....one year is all I get out of them...Torsion bar front end....coils in the back.....but if that is my biggest issue....I got it made.....

miles on my expedition

Ive got a 97 that just hit 240,000 its been a workhorse for me for years, blew out the third member about 50,000 miles ago and just replaced the heater core about 2 months ago, I drive it about 100 miles a day now in my line of work and its running great, might have more miles than its showing as ive upgraded the rims and the speedo is about 5 miles slower

At 100,000 miles:
started to get the leaking thru windshield onto my computer ( resolved it my self using this forum)

Items I am currently working on:
Middle seat- seat-belt broken
latch that holds 3rd row seat in up position broke.
Over head display went out, rear passenger driver side wind and locks not working.
Stabilizer link – rubber bushing dissolved.
AC blower fan only works on Hi – got all the info to fix myself from forum ( I love this place)

All regular maintenance done on time.

Have had the check engine light come on 2 times, once for the PCV valve and the other I cannot remember.

2005 5.4 75k miles...only repair is 1 of the idler pulleys went bad about 5k miles ago. Other than that only oil changes and air filters. New set of tires at 60k.

Occasional light towing from the mulch yard and back. Hauled my Bronco about 30 miles before it scared the hell out of my swaying, so I pulled off dumped the bronco and drove them both to where we were going.

130K on my 01 eb. For the last 30k or so, it's clattered like a diesel. Not sure what's wrong, I just keep driving it and changing the oil regularly. Will this noise go away if I switch to a heavier oil?

Help,
I had the bearings go bad on the passenger front rotor. Its pretty bad it seems it grinded down the axle where the rotor sits and know I need to replace it. Has anyone ever had to replace this ? How do you pop the ball joints off ? Any replys would be great.

Thanks,

Talking 208K

On my wifes last expi it was totaled out @ 208.0000 miles & wow if it was not a great vehicle, only replaced alternator once, 2 batteries, brakes all the way around twice, one set of spark plugs & many ROTELLA 5-40 oil changes, the factory belt went @ 203.000. Everyone walked away from the accident. Vehicle was a 1998 4x2 5.4 eddie bauer. We recentely replaced it with a 2004 eddie bauer expi 4X4 well loaded

live long and prosper.

monoply, not sure what year you Expy is, but here is a link for the 97-03 F150 (pretty close to the same design): https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/3...f-150-4x4.html

nexeslee95, glad everybody walked away!

237K on my '99 Expedition 5.4, I've replaced 3 coils packs, 1 alternator, a couple of batteries and kept up the regular maintenance. I use this vehicle in my construction business and I've even towed my skid loader (8000lbs.) with it a time or two. Still running great, no leaks to speak of, except a little around the diff. I also have an '01 with 93k that's like new, I'll use this one for work if my '99 ever dies...

Sure are lots of high mileage Expys here. That is a good sign.

I only have 83K on my 2003 and except having the rear end rebuilt at about 70K no problems.
