Local Shops Thread

Hi Gang,

Is there a thread for local shops by areas. I am looking for a good shop in Orange County to have all the typical mods done to my truck. I am looking for better air intake, exhaust and gauges for now.

The best auto repair shop in SoCal for older Fords is Bill's Auto Repair in the City of Orange.

Bill specializes in Fords, without computers (pre 1980).

Bill's shop is right across the street from where I live. My wife and I live full time at Orangeland RV Resort in a 5th wheel. I could not imagine anyplace more convenient. I am planning on having him install and exhaust, exhaust brake and a set of gauges. I can do the air intake upgrade myself. I don't have a place to work on it myself, and I have never liked working exhaust systems

Does Bill just specialize in older Fords or does he "not do" computer controlled systems?

Desolate Motorsports, the owner is Greg. Very straightforward, no B/S, they all own and race Ford Trucks. They did a great job at a fair price installing the Bilstein leveling kit on my truck.

Yeah. The truning signals and the brake lights work but the headlights, windshield wipers, and hazards don't. I want to rewire them and get a new fuse box.

Do it yourself! Seriously, there are some helpful threads and links on this site. Check out the 6.0 forum. I'm at work (!) so I don't have time to find the threads right now.
Dieselsite has great info on their site and a phone number to call for any questions. It took me some time to get the nerve to drill the exhaust manifold, but it's really straightforward. It all took about three hours and a few beers.

OCD is a 'boutique' shop, not much bang for your buck.

Never (knock on wood). I limo tint all my vehicles on all sides except the windshield. I grew up in Mission Viejo and stayed clear of Irvine because of the reputation of Irvine PD. If I lived in OC, I might not try it. I am in Riverside and never get hassled. I have a few PD friends anyway that will sign the fix it ticket. Plus most peace officier tint their windows.....so.....why would they bother other unless you look suspicious.
