Transmission Question

On craigslist there's a 3 spd manual out of a '52 F-1 for sale.

I have the non syncro 4 spd in my truck...and I don't really feel like double clutching that thing behind what will eventually be a warmed up flathead

I'd like to go with the 3 spd, but dont really want to convert to a column shift.

Is this something I can make work? Or should I just keep my eyes open for a pre-50 trans?

There are HD 3-sp's that are top-shift, I would watch for those or an older top-shift. You can't convert a column-shift to top shift, if you are thinking about that.
