Bad, Bad Mistake 3.55 to 4.10
#16
I upgraded my stock 3.55 gears to a set of Yukon 4.56's last November and have absolutely ZERO issues. Sounds like you may simply received a bad set, not sure why you didn't insist the shop order another set and install those. I mean had you ordered 4 new tires and one was bad would you have simply went back to the stock tires or insist on a replacement being sent?

Now I can cruise in Overdrive no problem. One thing is I added the gears and the tuner at the same time. I felt a noticeable difference, but I don't know how much was because of the gears. I am happy with them, but I thought they would at least allow me to burn the tires from a stop. Even after the gear swap I can't get this thing to chirp the tires from a compete stop.

I have never heard of this Yukon gear (I typically use Richmond)

on the other hand, I've heard bad things about Yukon gears from other Mustang/Camaro guys. most everybody uses Ford Racing or Richmond

my 5.4 with 3.73 can spin the tires from a stop. it ain't a smokout, but there is definetaly tire spin and the squealing noise...I'm actually wanting to go to 4.56 or 4.88 gears in my truck. but it's gonna cost me about $2k for a shop to do it out here. hows that for expensive?

EDIT: i didn't read the 4.6 part.......as for gear howl i'm going to have to agree with a few in here that its almost never the gears....i've installed far more gearsets than i'd like to admit (95 F-150 blew up 3 rear end LS carriers and destroyed gears each time before i switched to an aftermarket carrier) as well as many gears in other vehicles....and the only time i've ever had gear noise is when they weren't set up perfectly - (off road only - didn't care).
