Randy Jack and AX racer. Thanks for the assist. The safety wire is on one side. If I decide not to pull the hood, can I still pull my fenders...It sure would be a lot easier cleaning this thing up if I get the front clip apart.
I need the clecos for my doors. they sag and hit one of the fenders. Also, the ruber weather striping has to be removed. It is deteriorated and painted over.

Thanks JimG

You do understand that clecos are designed to hold things, primarily sheet metal, in place temporarily not permanently. They use a special install/removal tool to put the tip thru an 1/8" hole then the tip expands to pull the panels tightly together. Some here drill alignment holes for clecos thru their already aligned panels before disassembly for painting etc. Then put them back together with them to hold alignment until they put the bolts back in so they don't have to slide parts around on fresh paint getting them to realign.
see my other topic on cleco source for pictures.

A perfect description....as usual.

FWIW, Although I don't have a commercial source for them, I have seen and used some clecoes that have nuts at the top of them instead of the spring button. While they are used for the same reason, they install using a deep socket and wrench to tighten them and provide a much stronger clamping force. They will actually use the pilot hole to shape parts to each other. I have seen these in sizes up to 1/4" diameter. Those are real honkers! Grainger or McMaster Carr would be possible sources.
