My towing mirrors will get here on Tuesday and I am thinking about wiring up the puddle lamp while I'm in there. I know I don't have the wire in the door and need to grab the black/blue dome light wire in the drivers side kick plate...

I need to buy some wire to do this, so
anyone know what gauge this wire is?

Will I need any new pins to get the wire connected to the connector on the harness? Or are there extras on it that I can use?

Does anybody know of a good way to route the wire through the dash to the passenger side door?

Thanks
Josh

I'm sure a 16agw would work for the additional wiring as it probably doesn't draw much amperage. 18 or 20 would suffice too IMHO.

Try to fish the wiring through the rubber sleeve that runs everything else to the door, and again, you should be fine.

My mirrors were delivered yesterday as well. I installed them right away & am very pleased! I didn't hook up my puddle lamps, thats a project for a future date when I have more time on my hands. Didn't have any trouble moving my ground wire(s). The view from these mirrors is great, I can now see a lot more of what was the blind spot.

So now the new look for my truck is complete. Along with the Towing mirrors, I also installed the bug deflector and the H-Bar style grille to replace my honeycomb grille.

Before:

After:

So now before next winter I need to order a 6L3Z-19980-CA control module.

Well I got to putting on my mirrors today and everything when smooth expect one problem. THE GOOD.... I ended up buying new pins for the ones I had to move as I had a hell of a time getting them out and one broke on me. The new pins already had wire crimped on them about 3” long so I just cut the wire that needed to be moved from the old pin and then soldered the new pin wire to it.…. (had to move the one ground wire to the # 8 pin spot and the puddle lamp wire to the #11 pin spot).

I also wired in the puddle lamp…I am sure glad I took the extra time to do it, it really lights up the side of the truck well…I did not think it would be that bright.

THE BAD
Now for my problem…the heat…..put the new heat control in and the light would not stay light…..after thinking about it I looked in the owners manual and sure enough there needed to be a 10A fuse in the #8 spot in the passenger side fuse boxes…..grabbed a fuse and went to put it in…..felt really lose….grabbed a flash light and saw that the slots are there for it but there are No pins there…… I’m thinking WTF….

So I called were I bought the mirrors from and told him about the problem and he looked into it and looked up the fuse boxes and there are different ones for heated mirrors/rear window and non-heated!! I think the Ford had there head up there Azz when they though of this one…..put all the wiring/dash connectors in place and then have a different fuse box!?!?!?!

So he said that I should be able to find a wire going into the fuse box and a wire going out of the fuse box for heat…..That I need to cut them off at the plug, make then longer and put a inline fuse in…….that or a new fuse box 150.00 or so…

the_webers_inc there is a good chance that you will have the same problem as me.

I will keep everyone posted and what I find out for a solution

I would install an in-line fuse if that option is available to you.

Thats what I was thinking too, but there is a relay for the heated windows that needs to be hooked up before the inline fuse......I got some diagrams that show it pretty well....I will start on it in a bit and let every one know what the out come is.

not sure on the part number, but it is the one in the passenger kick panel......it is labeled with heated mirrors/window.....as my fuse box now only has empty slots....It was $133.xx

As for any one wanting to do this mod, you should beware if do don't already have heated mirrors or heated back window it looks like you will need the fuse box along with the heater control.

I compared my wires to the diagrams of the connector at the fuse box and my DG/VT heat wire is in the right pin in the connector....So hopefully this will do it!

Are these plug and play for my 07 King Ranch? I have power folding, heat, and turn signal. I like the bigger mirrors better.

They are wired for an 07 so it should just work right out of the box, but you will lose your power fold.

Question Heater control module question.

I hope you guys can help me with my truck. I have a 2004 F150 Screw and I am going to be putting towing mirrors on it soon. I know I need the a/c module because i don't have heated mirrors now. My question is this, I was looking on Ebay and i found a salvage yard in Va that had a manual a/c module on ebay for 47.00 which I thought was awesome. Well here is where I was wrong I guess. My A/C module was made in 3/03 and the module i bought was made in 5/05, Ok I unplugged my module and plugged in the one I bought from ebay. The Temp,Fan, A/C on-off,Recirc on-off work ok. The led's by the small switches on my control are green and the new one are yellow. The heated mirror switch will light it's led until you release the button then it goes out. Now for the fun part. The air doesn't come out where it is supposed to by the knob, On max A/C the air cond. is working as it should but the air is coming out of the defroster duct. And when the knob is pointing at defrost the air comes out the dash vents. None of the position selections are right to the knob. Did ford change the wiring from 04 to 05 model trucks? Would it be possible to reassign the wires that connect to the Heater module to make this part work? I would also need the wiring schematic for my 04 and an 05 to make the neccesary changes if that is possible.I suppose I should have just bought a new module but I need to save some money where I can. Any help would be appreciated.
