5.4 throttle lag??

I know there has been threads on this but I figure if I start a new thread you guys will bring me up to speed right quick!

I have 04 with 5.4 f-150 fx4 now and then when you nail the peddle it seems like it takes forever for the engine and tranny both to recognize that your in need of power and right now! because you got a semi bearing down on and you just moved into the fast lane to get around the douche bag in front of you thats too busy talkin on the cell phone and lightin his cigarette!!! then all at once like what seems like forever all is well in your little ford plant and off you go..finally

Is there something I can do for this? It is real scary especially when towing.
thanks for your time guys I just know someone knows sumpin on this. Help

A lot of folks have had their PCM's flashed with the latest version available from the dealer and reported a much better response of the throttle. A friend just had his '05 done a few weeks ago and liked the results. His was just before the end of its warranty, so it didn't cost him anything.

Others have said installing an Edge Evo or other tuner produces the same or better results.

A tuner will take out the throttle lag. My Xcal2 did anyway.

Hi boots6868 We can help you out with this. Its the dreaded Drive by Wire a flash tuner device(like X3) will pretty much eliminate this goofy pedal feel. We have discounted pricing on all SCT for FTE members. Here is some feedback from a couple of FTE F150 owners.

Ford reflashed my 05 Fx4 in January wiping out my custom dyno tunes. The factory reflash did seem a little better than the original that was on the truck when I bought it in 05; however that same throttle lag was very noticeable and irritating. I will be dyno tuning again this time with an Xcal2. The tuner is the best way to eliminate this drive by
wire lag.

Now is this something the average backyard mechanic can do? I know my way around the mechanics of trucks and cars. But I will be the first one to admit when comes to hooking things up to your on board computer and reading the data scares the life out of me. Heck I just recently figured out how to turn on the Home PC. lol

Yes sir, you would be fine. If you are able to sign on and post in the FTE forums , Its that easy, Its a matter of following / reading a few on screen commands. Here is the user manual to X3's to review http://www.sctflash.com/PDF/X3_SF3Manual.pdf . and if need be we can walk you through it. Download manual and look at Program Vehicle Menu.

By the way something that is confusing is having 3 remote controls for TV/DVD/Satellite...now thats confusing...
