I'm going to be changing my '52 f3 to a 12v system soon. You'll have to let us know how difficult/easy it was.

They aren't cast, they are fab'd out of two steel plates. I got mine off eBay from Certified Electric. I am beginning to believe a brace back to the intake manifold from the rear of the alternator would be a good idea. Certified sells a turnkey mount/alternator too.

Flatheads are completely different, and while you can make your own, the slingshot for mounting the alternator is usually only about $35. I wouldn't even consider making my own for that much. It need to fit the front of the intake tightly.

I changed my '50 over useing a bracket like the one Abuq f1 used. It cost me 65.00 at little dearborn in St. Paul Mn. It worked good I used a 3 wire GM altenator with a harness from Summit that has a Diode in it to keep the current from running backwards. The harness was 18.00

That's the slingshot "style" I got from Chuck at Chucks Trucks. 1-wire 12V works Great! Bolts right up to the 239. Hmmm, maybe a 45 second install.
