best powerstroke

I would like to know what is the best powerstroke to get? Reliablity & durablity are the main thing I'm concerned about.

Tex must like to watch fights!!! Seriously, there are good and not so good things about both engines. If you do some searching on this website, you will find plenty of information on both, the 6.0 and the 7.3. The new 6.4 has some reviews as well. There is a year or two on the 6.0 that some say you should avoid. I own a couple 7.3's and I like them. I have friends with the 6.0's and they are good too. Do some research and then make up your mind. In my opinion, you won't go wrong with either one.

My vote would be go back befor the time of the powerstrokes to the IDI's they run for ever and parts are dirt cheap. Of coures there aren't as many options for performance so not the bast choice if you want to race it. If we gotta stay stroke I'd go with the 7.3 just seen too many of the problems with the earily 6.0s and even more with the IH version vt365s.

I would have to say the 7.3 PSD. I had zero engine problems with my 99 7.3I would like to say the the 6.4 PSD is a close runner up but with only 13,000 miles on mine and no with any real miles the jury is still out on that one. I am not a fan on the 6.0's we had problems with our fleet trucks that had that engine.

i would say an old 6.9 or 7.3. if you have to have a powerstroke go with the 7.3 we have on of each from 6.9-6.0 and weve had no problems out of none of them till the day dad bought an 03 6.0 the rings went out of the oil pump.

Both my 7.3s are great....It's the trucks around them that are falling apart LOL. Seriously the front end on these superdutys is junk. And whose idea was $350 wheel bearings? I love engineers. They design things that you have to be an engineer to pay for.
