I would but if I made my own tank it would only be from aluminum and I dont have a tig welder to weld it all up properly. I like the idea of using a stock tank anyway. I could then use the sending units from them and wire a switch in that switches the gauge over depending on what tank you are using at the time.

Here is the ebay auction. I know it has ended but I emailed the guy a week or so ago and he said he would still sell them at that price.

I cant see the pics for some reason, all I am seeing is little red x's.

I have a small update for the project. I just got home this weekend and went straight to work on the rear supension. I needed to lower the rear 3" so I removed the front spring hanger and cut some of the top section off (a little less than half of the overall height) and raised the whole shackle up 2.5" then welded it back to the frame. I did this to both sides and then remeasured the with the bed back on. I noticed raising the forward leaf spring shackle the 2.5" lowered the truck exactly 1.5". I will be extending the rear shackle making it longer by 3" and hopefully that will get the truck lowered by a full 2.5"-3". This only took me about 40 minutes to do everything and I am hoping to only spend about an hour on the shackles tomorrow. I will post pics up of it all tomorrow when I am finished.

This is a great way to lower the truck a few inches with just a little of your time and the best part is that it is free instead of a couple hundred $$ for a kit.

Well im picking up my 2007 Marquis front end tomorrow. It was a little steep at 600, in north jersey, but its got 7 thousand miles and comes with all of the hardware and brackets and the steering coupler.
I did notice that a Lincoln Town car at the yard had the same suspension as the Marquis. So there are 4 cars these front ends can come out of, Marauder, Vics, Marquis, Town cars.

I am also looking for a rear end from a T-Bird, Cougar, or Mark now. It would be cheaper to go that route instead of rebuilding the 9 inch with a sway bar, and disk brakes plus I would gain the smoothness of an independent rear.

BTW, pics to come tomorrow when I get the front end.

Does anyone know if braided front brake lines are made for the Marauder??? I will need a set soon for my front end.

If you have a big bearing 9 inch, you can get the backing plates and calipers off of an 8.8 rear-end off an explorer. They will bolt right up.

$600 still isn't bad, especially with those miles. Good to know that the town car front is the same. Same measurements too? That makes finding parts alot easier. I can't wait to get this going on my truck. I know it's been asked before on this thread, but does anyone have a driving truck with this ifs mod and/or mark viii, cougar, etc irs? I'm sure I'm not the only one who is anxious to hear how it rides. I'm having recurring dreams of riding in an F-100 that feels like a crown vic/ town car and I check this post every day for new info/pics. Also is anyone using irs from a mark viii? I've seen pics of the rear stance with this irs, but I'm curious how it will match up with the ride height of the crown vic type ifs. Can't wait to hear more from you all and good luck.

Mike

For anyone in the KC area that may be interested , I saw 3 Mark VIII's at 2 different self serve junk yards this weekend. One was at the pick-n-pull on Truman road at I-435 and two were at U Pick It on Indenpendence Ave. at I-435. the two at u pick it were non-posi. I asked about the price and they said around $100. I didn't check out the one at Pick-A-Part but I did see the complete rearend was under it. 2002 was the newest crown vic I saw at either yard.

UPDATE: sorry no pics today I need to get another memory card. I bought another rearend yesterday along with hydraulic brake booster. The new rear has 31 spline axles and traction loc with 3.27 gears and 11" disc brakes. woohoo!! The hydraulic brake booster is much more compact than a vaccum brake booster. I am makeing a braket that will make the hydro booster a boltin setup. I cant wait to finish it but I need to get small piece of steel plate in the morning to finish it up. The neat thing is that I only have about 20 minutes in the hydroboost setup so its an easy install.

That is cool, I got the hydro booster with the 32 Valve motor I bought. So to see how you will do it first will be great. It looks like it will fit right where my manual brake master cylinder is at, just needs new holes.

How do you plan on routing the hoses? I have a feeling that all of the hoses that I got with it, might not reach. I was thinking about using high pressure braided hose from summit with some AN fittings.

Did you get the brackets made for the trailing arm? Got any good pics of it installed? And did you rotate the mount to get it mounted at a level angle?

just a note for anyone looking to use mark/bird/cougar irs, the markviiis have aluminum control arms as well as the pumpkin, if you wanna use coils just get some for a bird/coug along with 4 of the factory isolators to use on the top and bottom of the springs, when you put the coils in the airbag pockets just position them so that they are both aligned, when me and my dad did the coils on his mark we just put the springs so the end of the coil on the bottom was towards the inside of the car, inline with the centerline. sorry to jack, but this is an awesome thread!

Ok I finally have some update photos for you savages....

Here is the hydroboost installed, I made a bracket that stuck 2" away from the firewall and uses the factory 2 bolt holes to mate up to the 4 studs on the hydroboost I plan on making a diamond plate cover for the bracket later on.

Here is the engine with the much bigger turbo installed. There is only about 3/4" between the turbo housing and the hydroboost but I think it will be ok.

I painted everything with the hoses and filters on because I am replacing them all later on anyway so they will be all black.

I also have thought of taking my hydroboost bracket to a machinist I know to have a solid block of aluminum carved out just like it. I havent decided yet but for now I can mock everything up and its a good thing too since it is a close fit between the turbo and hydroboost
