you know,,, you really suck!!!! my frame was what i thought as complete. sandblasted, painted, new $200 + urethane suspension rebuild, new rotors calipers and lines and you come up with this crap!!! now for my question. does this front xmember have the 4.6 engine mounts made into it or were they seperate? ive already mounted a 4.6 in my truck and the mounts had to be fabbed.
I think if you dont have the mounts for the 4.6 that comes out of the vic, maruader, or marquis, then you might need the motor mounts at the bottom of this page.
BTW that company has tons of parts for the 4.6 motor. 2,3,4 valves they have some cool parts.
I am going to try and research if those three donor cars have the same motor mounts as the other 4.6s, say from a Mark, or a T-Bird, or Stang with the 2 valve or 4 valve.
Another car that most have left out to get a mod motor or a IRS from is the Cougar from the 90's, it too is a MN12 chassis car and is identical to a T-Bird.

ive got the 93 mkviii engine and trans in my truck. just tryin to figure out if the angle is gonna change much with the different crossmember in there. ive already had to do some fab work on the trans xmember. if its lower that might be better since i have nearly 0 space in the tranny tunnel as it is.and i really need to watch the tailshaft angle cause of the jag rear i installed. i dont want to redo all thats done already.

I cant help you with the 4.6L placement but I would imagine that it would work. I have the oil pan of my engine sitting several inches above the crossmember and my tranny still clears the tranny tunnel. My engine is much taller than the 4.6L also.
My best guess is that it would work.

Carcrafter,
I'm interested in the diesel engine you are using. I have always wanted to do a diesel swap but I honestly never pittled with anything diesel. What has always stopped me is the wiring with newer engines. Newer efi gas engines are bad enough, I could only imagine my lack of knowledge of diesels compounding my headache! You said yours was fairly simple to wire. Is it a newer engine that uses a mechanical injection? Do you have any bookmarked web pages with info on the diesel you are using?
I am using a 1990 isuzu 3.9L diesel 4BD1T out of an NPR comercial box truck. The engine was designed to be used in everday comercial use hauling 20,000 pounds day in and day out and regularly see 300,000 miles. The engine is extremely simple to wire in and get running. There are 3 wires on the alternator, a couple wires on he starter, and a mechanical cable to kill the motor, then hook up the tranny and a sending and return fuel line and thats about it. This is about the simplist engine you can swap into a vehicle. I am hoping for 28-32mpg I may not get it but I do have a goal at least and I will be running it on veggi oil to keep fuel cost down. I am hoping to spend 15-20 per gallon on my fuel roughly.
I also looked at putting a cummins 4 cylinder engine in but it is noisier and rattles a great deal more plus the cheapest I could find a used one local was $4k way more than even the 6cylinder cummins. The clear choice was the isuzu with its smoother quieter idle, plus I like to be different. oh yeah I only paid abou $2k for a rebuilt engine complete.
You can go here to research the 4 cylinder cummins. Great info
Im gunna fall way behind you now carcrafter i went to the junk yard and found my parts well most of them some one had already got the claipers off the front but i am gettin the frontend any way im hoping ill be able to find them online somewhere but the car a 2003 corown vic PI had the motor in it sill so they are going to pull it for me and give me a call when they get it out in 7-10 days i gave them 300 for it but i now think they are going to want a nother 50 for the steering parts i hope im not getting a bad deal ill try and get some picts up of what im starting with by monday.
sounds like a decent deal. I think you could get some calipers cheap off of ebay. I know you can get a complete set of drilled and slotted rotors for the front and back for $130.00. Thats crazy cheap. I hope you know we are going to need to see lots of pics of your install.
I will have some more pics next week. I will be home tomorrow night and will spend the weekend with my daughter then be hard at it late sunday night and into the week.

Going to north jersey to look at and possibly pick up a front end off a 7 thousand mile Marquis 2007. Im gonna try and get it for 500. Wish me luck!! Then my Mach 1 motor will bolt to that, and ill have to make a tranny mount, which isnt too bad to make.
Then its wheels and a drive shaft. Along with all of the little things.

Dont forget you will need some wheels that fit a 5x4.5 bolt pattern. I am using 2007 dodge magnum wheels. They are 18" and with the 225/60-18 tires I am using they fill the wheel well out pretty good. This is a 28.6" tall tire I have pics in this thread somewhere of how it all looks.

im still trying to figure out how to do a fuel tank. There are a few that im looking at since the tank I got from a 2003 Mach 1 is way too wide, unless I section it, and that will be a big hassle.

im using a gas tank from a ranger, mid to late 90's inside the drivers side frame rail. had to relocate and flip one crossmember in the rear but it fits pretty well. but, my rear doesnt have the movement a live axle has.

I have been looking into some aftermarket mach1 wheels in 18" I think that would look awsome and still go along with the classic lines of a classic truck. I will probably upgrade at a later date.
I would love to see some pics of this ford ranger gas tank installed. I havent gotten that far but I will be wanting a under carriage style fuel tank eventually so I have more room for the seats in the cab. I think if its an easy install I will look into that ranger tank.
How long did it take you to install the ranger tank? Do you think you could fit 2 tanks under there, one for each side?
I have the bed off now so it would be a great time to do it.

why not just fab your own tank? make it the size you can fit wherever you want it use the filler neck from the cab remember to baffle it and set the pickup slightly off the bottom pressure test it and then use it
