Project bad, yes you will be fine, the guy on the other forum you speak of is exactly the kind of person i am talking about, they have no clue they just like to hear themselves talk.

Yes you can put a block in to raise the suspension.

********** pay attention here PLEASE***************

DO NOT put an open ended thin wall peice of tubing between the frame and crossmember! I saw a guy on youtube and another ford website do this that is teaching kids in a shop class and its horribly wrong and dangerous!

The proper way to put a "lift block" in would be to make it an extension of the frame by welding it in then boxing the ends of the extra tube and grafting the ends into the frame so its all like one peice. I would also use a 3/16" or 1/4" wall tube for added strength. Also remember use the strongest bolt you can when going that long.

carcrafter22 or anyone else that has done the swap. I installed the cv front suspension a while back, I believe I posted some of the pics in this page, is a 76 F100 with a FE390 engine on it. Here is my question, I installed a rear drop kit from DJM, shackles and hangers, so it droped 4 inches on the back. I have 20" wheels, the front has 275/40R20 and it measures 27.5" from the ground to the fender, at the rear I have 275/45R20 and it measures 31", the front is fine until I turn up into my driveway, then the tire rubs against the fender, is there a way to bring the front up a little, like 1", by using a different front spring or something else.

Thanks for your help

I got my new wheels today, Boss 338's 20" X 8.5" with 255/45/20 tires.

I love the wheels and have wanted them for a while. I traded a guy for them so I got them super cheap, they do have about 200 miles on them but they are perfect and I got them for less than half what they are worth. LOL

The back spacing is perfect, I just need to get an alignment in the front and rear, the front needs a minor alignment to remove some negative camber and the rear needs a major alignment to bring the negative camber back in. Like I said I love the new look, the machined lip draws me in like a moth to a flame.

I do plan on lowering the truck a little bit more, I want the fender lip to set on or close to the edge of the wheel so I need to lower it around 1"-1.5", maybe cut a coil or so then align it all.

What do you guys think?

Dang, you stole my idea! I have been looking at those exact wheels for some time. What offset are they and are you still using the .25" spacer/1.25" adapters you were using with the Magnum wheels?

Looks great!

I AM THAT SHOP TEACHER that you are referring to. I highly upset that you are saying I am teaching my students something dangerous. I take pride in my program and would never do anything to put my students in danger. My truck may not look as pretty as yours but the spacers I used are fine and the boxing in you are referring to do very little for strength although it does look better. Everybody can check out my youtube video and judge for yourself. This will be the last time I will visit this site it this is the way people on this site talk slandering one’s character and job. The thin wall tubing your are referring to is 5/16" and much thicker than the original frame.

Suspension

For anyone looking for the crown vic frontend, I ran across a deal on ebay of all places, I am getting a loaded K-member for $400 shipped to the shipping dock. Search for "Complete Ford front suspension". Better than any deal I could find locally, since carcrafter made them so popular! Thanks for the great suspension idea, I will soon have one in an IH rig....

Scout800,

Checked them out, not a bad price but for me in NM freight would be $467 by itself so still searching. Thanks for the link.
