Here is the video of the driveby. The limited slip sure works good, 2 nice long black marks. YouTube - 67 F100 with 4BD1T isuzu 3.9L diesel engine Burnout

As always comments are welcome by all.

Thanks for the offer, I may have to take you up on that.

I have a few updates on the truck. I finished the spare tire carrier. I used 3/16th angle steel to make a crossmember and the carrier is from a 2004 ford F150 truck.

Here is the metal strap I made so I could mount the 2007 crown vic sway bar.

The over all shot of the new sway bar installed. The whole job only took about 20 minutes including makeing the bushing brackets.

Here is just a picture of the stance of the truck.

Thanks I think it sits good for a daily driver/ sporty truck. I have been toying with the idea of installing airbags so I can get the real custom lowered look when it sits then raise it to this height when driving so speed bumps arent a problem.

Looking good!!
I have some torque specs that if you know could share?? I stopped by the local Ford dealership and almost laughed when the guy said it would take him hours to look up the 7 specs I need. Then he went on to tell me that its just a range, and the service techs use torque sticks, and basicly they dont even know. LOL, what a joke and waste of time that was!!! The guy told me to look it up on line off Chiltons. I have no need for a manual, I just need specs, so if you know them Crafter let us know!! Thank you!

WOW that took all of 5 minutes. I think I would stay away from that idiot at the parts counter. Make sure you stay within the "range" haha LOL....

No sorry no search. I have access to alldata pro. I found it there under a 2005 crown vic, should be the same for all the 2003-2007 CV. If you need anything else let me know.

carcrafter22 - did you get the rear calipers and rotors from the newer CV on the older axle?

I have my CV front end - bought it at U-pick-a-part in Chicago Heights, IL for $144.58. So next is a rear axle and 4-link from Suicide Doors.

The builder of this CV is getting me some pics of the air ride set-up he's using - http://www.cardomain.com/ride/341428 so I don't have to reinvent the set-up.

also can you explain in detail how you measured and marked the center line for the front end before mounting it... I think I have an idea of how it done but want to be sure.

Thanks for all the help...

Damn... just noticed the CV in that link is a 2001... so much for using something proven... can track down the guy with the F100 and CV front end in Cali to get more info from him...

Thats a great deal on the front end. Well the simple fix for putting a 4 link with a newer disc brake rear axle is to just use a 93 crown vic rear axle with disc brakes and Limited slip and get a four link from fat man fabrication. That will just bolt right in after you cut the old brackets off the 93 crown vic rear axle. A very simple yet nice setup. I never did try to adapt the newer brakes to the older rear axle. I just got frustrated and figured it will be fine and it does work very very well with the fronts. I may try it later on siince I do have the 07 rear axle still.

As for the front end locating I have explained it several times but here goes again.

I took a piece of string and attached a wieght (old 302 oil pump) to it to stretch it out. I then used a piece of duck tape to attach it to the fender exactly straight up from the centerline of the original wheel hub. Remember to make sure your wheels are straight. That should locate the centerline of the wheels pretty good and allow you to get the crown vic wheel hubs centered in the wheel wells.

I then measured the distance from the frame to the aluminum crossmember side to side in several different areas (use the machined surfaces on the CV crossmember for accuracy) to make sure I had the crossmember centered on the frame from side to side.

I also measured from the end of the frame and a couple of other factory holes to the aluminum crossmember on both sides to make sure that it wasnt crooked and to help me double check that I had the factory hubs centered when I did my initial markings.

With those measurements I now have it centered left to right and centered in the wheel well. I cant stress enough how important it is to measure 10 times then cut once. Once you rill your holes to bolt the crossmember in its kinda permanent unless you want to fill the holes in and have to redo it over.

I would also recomend getting some good clamps to hold the crossmember in place when you go for final check and fitment inspection before you drill mounting holes. You will also want a good floor jack with a large lift pad to raise the front end. I use a very large 3 ton floor jack like the one at northern tool for $80 its what I use and works very well.

thanks for repeating that for me... I've always been told I to remember something you have to hear it three times... hehehe...

I'll follow this with the slight change of hanging the string off the hood... The fenders are off already, and really rusted out on one side...

I want a triangulated 4 link in the rear so I don't have a pan hard bar... though a good watts link would solve that, I don't want to have to build a mount on the rear end for one. The hope for the rear brakes is to be able to run slotted/drilled on all corners... maybe I'll have the stock CV narrowed, this way I can put the wheels as far out as possible, but still tucking when laid out.

Should the track be dead on for front and rear wheels?

No problem I enjoy helping people out.

I have been looking into different rear suspensions and came very very close to making my own 4 link suspension but took the quick easy way out... for now I know I need to do something because driving around the neighborhood shows a good bit of movement of the pinion everytime I accelerate. I guess its all that great diesel low end torque.

As for the track widths, I will go out on a limb and say that you will have to mod a rearend to make it the same track width as the front. I have the matchin 07 CV rear axle and it is several inches longer than the front end, I was going to have it shortened but I came across this 93 cv rearend that is almost perfect for $150. so I went with it. I think the best thing to do if you arent in a hurry (or building a whole truck like me and want it done a little faster at least temporarily) would be to take the matching 03-07 crown vic rear axle with the vented disc brakes and limited slip and have moser axles make you some custom shorter axles and just chop the housing down to fit. I think moser told me to shorten the factory axles with shipping and all it would be $80 and I found a local guy that handles alot of nice race cars that said he could shorten the housing for $150. I cant remember the price of the custom axles but for some reason $300 is sticking in my head... Either way its fairly cheap to have a nice modern low mileage rear axle with limited slip and disc brakes for fairly cheap. rear axle $150-300, shorten axles $80, shorten housing $150 = total under $550 complete.
The cool thing about shortening the rear axle is you can do it to your specs so if you want some fat tires out back you just shorten the rear axle to what you need and go with it.

I need to get back to researching rear ends or at least make some temporary traction bars like the ones I made for my 66 mustang.
