I am not sure on something that old. I have no experience on point type dist.
Just guessing Get the #1 cyl to Top dead center. Install the dist to where it is pointing @ # 1 cylinder on the rotary cap. You can then crank it and adjust the timing either by ear or with a timing light.
Their should be timing marks on the harmonic balancer.
