If ya get a flare gun it is a 12 gauge pistol and no waiting period. It wont have the same effect as your regular pistol but it will shed some light on the situation

Last gun I bought the guy in the gun shop offered to sell me a full auto. I was real tempted. And it was legal and I could have left the shop with it. They'll sell you a machine gun but not a pistol. Got to love them Texas Gun Shops.i

 

Good idea not to buy it!...You would end up on a list, not to mention it would not be legal in most states.
