75 shot on 86 F150 302?

My friends step dads son wants to sell a ZEX nitrous system to me for $100. It has a pretty big bottle, not sure what pound, solenoid, everything I need with a 75 shot nozzle. Said he paid $300 for it.

Can my 302 handle it? It has 17k miles on rebuilt motor and just exhaust for mods.

check your compression first off. also you have to have the timing set different for nitrous, which might make it run a little different. also is your 302 carb or efi?? the kits are different for the 2. is the kit a "wet" or "dry" kit??? sorry for all the questions but there is more to just bolting on a no2 kit. not trying to be rude.

that looks to me to be a dry kit. just be very carefull not to run a lean condition. with a 75 shot you shouldnt have to much to worrie about but i would suggest a a/f meter to make sure of this. also a window switch would be a good idea to keep it from spraying if you hit the rev limitor.

He said with this system you have to keep the tank mounted like it is in the picture with the bottom higher then the top. Would that help determine if its a dry/wet?

I would say that it is a dry system, only one solenoid for the nitrous. A wet system would have had more lines and another solenoid for the fuel. i believe that you have to keep the bottle in that position to help keep the liquid NO2 at the bottle opening.

the reason for the bottle positiom is so that the tube on the inside stays in contact witht the liquid no2 which is what you want to the motor not just vapors. im still going with it being a dry kit the nozzle only has one port not a second for fuel so be careful not to run lean.

Ok thanks. I want to bring it somewhere to have it tuned so I dont run it lean and screw something up. Right now im trying to fiqure out how to rig up a button or something. Right now im thinking an on/off switch then a WOT switch. Any other ideas?

you should have a "arm" switch that turns the system on then a wot switch that only alows no2 to flow at wot. also a window switch is a good idea so your not spraying below 3000 rpms and cuts right below the rev limiter. if yoiu hit the rev limiter while spraying bad things can happen. best to be safer then sorry. a window switch isnt usually that expensive for the piece of mind it gives.

Ok ill look into one. Will I even be able to get my motor tuned for nitrous? Im guessing they will have to make it run richer when activating the nitrous. I see they sell dry to wet conversions but they are $170.
