This is just an informal poll for those of us wondering if travelling this summer is going to be "economically viable"...
How much are you paying locally for gasoline? For diesel?
I am particularly interested in diesel fuel in the Delta, Glennallen, Valdez, and Anchorage area personally but this is for everyone so let's hear from you!
Gas is currently 3.15 a gallon in Fairbanks and diesel is 3.55 a gallon, as of March 3rd, 2008.

for the price of fuel now you might as well sell your trailer and just rent a 5 star hotel where you go... the gas prices are killing the rv dealers sales in alaska.. watch as they are going out of buisness..

Only problem with that Ray is that when we go hotel hopping, we are being forced to get two rooms since we also have a couple adult (disabled) kids with us! We have avoided it so far, but it's getting harder and harder to find hotels that will allow us all to be together. I can pay 100.00 a night for a hotel room but doubling that hurts! Not to mention we aren't all together and that is the whole point of a "family vacation"!
also your not in the woods like camping should be! the way the dealerships been talking its going to be a thing of the past quick buying rv's new up here anymore.

Well if the economy keeps sliding like it has been, it won't matter - we won't be able to afford to take our RV's anywhere anyway! And it's not like we had a whole lot to choose from up here as it was - toy haulers, little travel trailers and Class C's is about it!
We are watching the prices really carefully and debating on if we'll be going to Valdez for salmon this year. Gonna suck if the fiver stays in storage another year!
i know we a;ways have limited choices but its better then living with the animals in the lower 48, they better not raise them gas prices for summer again! man its really killing allot of the buisness up here in alaska.. but what you gonna do..
once the fuel climbs over 4$ a gallon im never leaving anchorage again, i hope it doesnt but peoplle been talking like its right around the corner!!!

Down here in the OC diesel fuel hit 4.20 a gallon at one local station. WTF! I'll drive up to Orange and pay .40 -.50 a gallon less. Problem is, I know it won't be long before it's over 4.00 a gal. everywhere.
I paid 3.16 at Bulk fuels for heating oil and thats what I am burning in the truck
