stalls after thirty min. wont start back

I have a 1980 pickup with a 302m. The engine stalls after 20 or 30 mins And wont start back for hours. I put a new inline filter on and an ignition module. Fuel filter? Any theories?

Get it to the point it will not run, and then take the aircleaner off and while looking down the carb throat, push back on the throttle. Gas should pour into the engine. If it doesn't, you have a fuel problem and I would concentrate in that area.

If you have fuel, then take a sparkplug wire off and stick a screwdriver up in the end of the wire and hold the metal part of the screwdriver close to the engine block while someone cranks the engine. You should see a spark jump from the screwdriver to the engine block. If not, you have a ignition problem, and the first thing I would try is replacing the ignition module.

If you hadn't put a new ignition module on, I'd say that was it. Maybe it is anyway. The only other thing I can think of is the coil overheating and crapping out, but I'm really reaching here as I've never heard of it or experienced it before, but it makes sense logically.

Piffery1 is gaining momentum as a positive member of FTE.
The pickup coil in the distributor can also cause that symptom if you get no spark when hot.
