Cool EGR tube problems

I need help finding a solution to a cracked EGR tube. I have been looking online but I can't find one and the one at the dealer is expensive. Does anyone have any sugesstions. By the way I don't know if it matters but I have a 1990 extended cab with a 5.8 liter engine.

Is there any way to bypass it without making the engine run bad

yes you can get rid of it and then block it off at the exhaust manifold and the intake where it bolts to. did this to my 89 mustang before i put my carbed motor in it, and my 92 f150 already had it done. both ran fine without it.

i took a JIC hydraulic fitting cap (i dont remember what size though maybe a 10 or 12) and screwed it onto the flared fitting (the one that is threaded into the exhaust manifold) that the tube's compression fitting screws on to, and i took the egr valve off and made up a sheet metal cover for it, it throws a code but you can get an egr eliminator chip for like 25 bucks on ebay, it plugs into the harness and tells the computer the egr is working properly, this was on my explorer but it should be the same

Try Autozone.com. They don't list it on their website, but I bought one there about 10 days ago in person. They can look it up on their internal parts system. It cost me $39.99 plus tax. I replaced it as PM while I had my upper manifold off. It takes a 24mm wrench. I believe it was made by GP Sorensen.

I'll pull the box out of the recycle bin in the morning and get the stock number for you. We have people who spend the night going through the recycle bins here, so it may have "disappeared" along with the aluminum cans and other cardboard.

Dorman makes OEM replacement EGR tubes. Also called EGR Line. Available for $50 at autopartswarehouse.com or on special order from your local auto parts store.

Rock auto (www.rockauto.com) listes the egr tube as "EGR Line" for the 5.8:
DORMAN Part # 598101 {OE Solutions #F0TZ9D477A} for 34 bucks

for the 7.5:

DORMAN Part # 598108 {OE Solutions #F7TZ9D477CA} for 23 bucks

Look up your vehicle then under emission then EGR Line.

I have a 93 7.5 I may want to plug off the EGR, any power or driveability issues?

Eliminating the EGR is not a good idea, it is asking for problems. I had my EGR tube crack about a year and a half ago, and I fixed it for about $5. Go to an auto parts store and get a tube of QuikSteel, it is a putty that mix by kneeding it in your hand and it sets up really hard. Way less messy and better than JB Weld. Use a lot of it, - used a whole 2 oz tube on my EGR pipe. It looks like hell, but you don't see it and it has not leaked for the last year and a half.

I bought mine off of ebay. Check around, they are available. And I also wouldn't recommend removing the egr setup.

I also checked RockAuto for you. I entered a 1990 f150 supercab with a 5.8 motor and it comes up as $28.79 for the egr line and its the same exact part number as posted earlier.......weird.
