Thanks, all, for the props. It makes a difference when others see your efforts and appreciate the outcome. It's good for the soul to hear accolades.
The interior is my next project. I want to keep it as original as I can but I sure am tempted to drop some captains seats in there. The carped and seat are just a little worn and need replaced. I try and snap some pins and document the transformation regardless of which direction I go. The only true question is about the seat; to reupholster or to replace?
Under the hood is a 351M and it's as stock as could be. A bit dusty but not too leaky. Plus, the Factory air works great!
I love them! I love how they tuck in there all beefy and all!
Truck has not left the shop though, waiting to throw the exhaust on in a week or two.
I would like to see some white wagon wheels - however, this has been a 'budget' restore and my father-in-law got a kick out of hand paintning ALL the black on the original hubcaps.
They really do fill the wheel wells nice.I really like those hubcaps.
Well everytime I try to get into my gallery, nothing happens. I click edit, it acts like it's going to load something, and then it does NOTHING. So, I guess I'll have to hold off on the 79 pics. I need to take new ones anyway because what I've got in my gallery is 6 years old and I put a new motor in this winter.
I prefer the 78/79 grills over the split grills prior to it. To me it makes it look more solid and more in your face coming right atcha. I remember the feeling I got walking up to her the day I picked her up from the guys house, 100 % nerves and excitement rolled into one. I got the inspection sticker on it Saturday and watched the guy drive off in her and felt like a parent watching their kid run off w/o them... Like where's my baby going!?
Here's my ugly truck. I wrecked her 6 years ago (see the timing there?) and just got the new nose put on it last summer. The nose came off my 83 f100. I wish that one wld have been in good enough condition to restore being that was the last production year of the f100 but what can you do when there's nothing to work with?

The lettering on the side of mine was never installed. It was supposedly sent in a box in each truck and was to be installed by the dealer. I asked my Grandfather about it when I took possession of this truck in 2003, and he said the dealer didn't say anything about it when he bought it so who knows what happened to that lettering. I could see how it would be confused with a freewheeling truck as the freewheeling trucks had the decals of the same size and shape, just different colors. The interiors are the same.
Looking at all the pictures, my favorite thing about everyone's truck, besides still being in great condition for being +-30-35 years old, is how different each is. With all the configurations, colors and options available, each truck is unique.
Thank you sir for the explanation. I did actually google the Indy Package and found lots of good info after being bashed on. Great truck.

Your '85 would actually be considered to be in very good condition here in IL! Most of the trucks around here that are that old are total rust-buckets. At least yours only has surface rust on it. Looks like a good one to restore.
Cool truck! It doesn't look too bad me. At least there doesn't appear to be a lot of rust on it.
Nope no rust except alittle surface stuff but I have had it for about 4 years and it still looks like it did when I got it Just gotta get busy on it I reckon
