76f350spercamprspeal,
My grandfather bought it new off the lot in early 1979. He died in 1981 so it sat in a barn-like garage for about 13 + years. Occasionally a family member would need it to move furniture or bricks or whatever; and you know they had no respect for it.
Then my dad got it and let it sit in the sun, totally exposed, for the remainder of the time. I couldn't talk him out of the truck so it just sat, fading away, until I inherited it about a year ago.
Interestingly, I can remember the day he bought that truck. I was with him at the dealership and I recall how he was bargaining down the price. I must have been around 14 on that day.

I don't remember how much he finally paid. My Grandfather enjoyed price haggling as much as the savings.
One thing I do remember was thinking what an odd color it is. And I still think it is an odd color. But this truck chose me, not the other way around. I'll take her the way she was born. Besides, after all the hand polishing hours I've invested to restore the paint I wouldn't dream of changing the color now.

It is a real treasure indeed. I often tell people that I am more a custodian of the truck than I am the owner. At less than 78,500 original miles, with any luck, I can pass it on to my kids.
Shamus that is one good lookin truck! Color??????? well, it's kinda like mine. If I went on the lot I wouldn't pick a Pine Tree Pollen truck (Ford called it Bright Lime but out here we see more pollen than limes) but with all the history behind that one, and the way you have it looking, you have a gem!
If you come east on I-40 into God's country, I'd love to see it.
Congratulations!
Larry
Shamus, That's a nice truck and history on it. Do you have pictures of inside and under the hood ?
It seems to me that thesse trucks were marketed more for farming and working not like today's trucks. That's probably why there's more of them in the farmbelts.
I see more of them when I leave this city and hit the country roads.
