iv got auto windows in my 88 250 but they dont work. i can fix them myself, but i would rather have manual windows. my truck is a mud truck and gets wet thats why.
I did it when I swapped doors, but I did it the really easy way: new doors were manual, old doors were power. I simply cut the harness and taped off the ends when I removed the old doors. I did notice that the rubber grommet/tube from the a-pillar to the doors is different from trucks w/power windows/locks. The powered versions are bigger.
I'm thinking a manual crank from a donor vehicle should bolt into your pickup without any problems - though you may have to drill a hole or two. You'll need to remove the motor, which will require you to drill out the rivets. Disconnect the wiring harness. Remove the wiring harness so it's not around to get hung up . Your current window bracket should be usable but you'll need to remove the entire power regulator. Install the manual regulator and hook it up to the window bracket.
You'll need door panels for a manual crank and probably can pull these from the donor vehicle. Don't forget the window crank handles.
This isn't hard at all, all the mounting holes are already in the door you just have to drill out the rivets and use bolts and captive nuts or new rivets to mount the manual cranks.
I've got manual window regulators I took out of my '91 F150 when I converted it to power, I will swap with anyone who wants to send me their power stuff that I can keep for spares.
I had no problems swapping a set of 87 manual regulators in to my 89. The regualtors mount in diffrently but the doors I had have both sets of mounting holes.
JAS88 send me an email adddisorder AT aim DOT com i am interested in doing a trade, the only thing that i want to keep would be my switches so i dont have holes in the door pannel left open, let me know.
