I got may consumer reports yesterday in the mail and have been spending a lazy Sunday reading all about the new vehicle reviews. I skipped all the blah blah crap about sedans and crossovers and went right to the meat of the magazine. Trucks and SUV's. I almost had an orgasm when I read that the Tundra V-8 4X4 was no longer a CR recommended truck because of lower than average reliablity ratings. As was the case for Nissans two V-8's and all of GM's full size SUV's. The Chevy and GMC trucks barely squeaked by with a CR nod even though thier reliabilty figures were below average.
FMC showed the highest reliabilty ratings across the vehicle line-up of the big three. Naturally Chrysler came in dead last with GM a hair ahead of them.
The F-150 and Expy did very well.
The "08 SD seems to be under tougher scrutiny since the 6.0L debacle of the past few years. The tree hugging liberals at CR seem to think the SD rides to rough, has poor road manners and won't stop well enough. It may be true, I don't own one. A Peterbilt has the same problems. I'm sure most of these "green" liberals drive some sort of a tiny hybrid. I say, put a minute mount plow on the front or a tri-axle trailer on the back of one of thier eco-boxes and see what happens. These fools seem to think that a heavy duty truck should have the manners as a town car and the mileage of a Focus. I did find it interesting however that according to thier tests, the average fuel mileage for the diesels ranged about 13 mpg overall with Ford being slightly less.
They hate us!
