Alright. I hear a few of you with these 400's wit 800 horse power. What do you have in them? This can't be off street gas alone. 800 hp is pretty impressive from a 400 I would say.
I've been wondering the same thing. NASCAR uses I think a 354 C.I. engine, and they put out aprox. 800 H.P. They have put millions into research and development, and have nearly unlimited funds at their disposal. In each engine, they have 30 to 40 thousands dollars and up.
To help get this power, they run the engines loose, and would not last for much more then the race that they are running. They also are revving to just over 9000 R.P.M.'s. They run on high octane fuel that would cost anybody a small fortune to try to run in a daily driven street vehicle. I'm not saying it isn't possible to get 800 ponies from a 400. With enough money, 1000 H.P. or more is possible. All I'm saying, is that a true 800 horsepower 400 cube engine would be very expensive to build, very expensive to run on the street, would not be suited for every day driving in a heavy pickup, and would not even come close to lasting for as many miles as an engine operating at a much more conservative horsepower level.
Hi I'm ShaZam I have the 800 H.p. 400 that you hear about here.
NO this is not a street motor, It's a purpose built motor to fit my needs here in Truck Pulling. It's a bored and stroked 400 to 435 C.I.and runs 14.5 to 1 compression. This motor cost me over $10,000.00 to build, and yes I run it loose to spin close to 9000 Rpm's if I need it to.I run Phillup 66 B33 racing fuel that cost $9.50 a gal.
This motor is build to pull in 2 classes at 20 pulls this season, after this season I'll pull the motor down and put in new bearings if needed.
I do have a few post on here that not only tells everyone how I got the Hp. and there's a cost brake down also .
If you need more info on this, feel free to email me I'll reply to all your questions.

Just wondering. How good do you do at these pulling contests and what
kind of setups do you compete against?
95 F-150 4x4
4.9L M5OD
Front Truetrac Rear Detroit
3.73 Precision Gears
Warn Premiums
4" Superlift Superunner
OK Cope :
Last year I finished 5th in class out of 13 Trucks of which there where 6
Chevy’s ,6 Ford’s and 1 Dodge.
What kinda set-up do we run, Well most of the trucks are 3/4 or 1 ton
4X4’s running mostly :-) Stock drivetrains. Posi’s front and back and
gears of your liking. We run in low range and gear of your choosing.
Now the guys that run in Super and Mod have big Military rearends and
profab transfercases , so they can run 1 to 1 and pick the gear they want to
run for each track to get the wheel speed they want .
Now due to the heads I’m running this year ( 351C 4V Closed chamber
with High Port plates) Aren’t allowed in Open Stock, I’ll be moving up to
Super and Mod . And I’ll be playing with the boys with Big Blocks 460’s
and 454’s Running between 850 Hp to 1200 Hp.
