How often do you even notice it, once it's set up?

But the question is.....

What happens in an emergency when you have to find it?

You forgot about it, can you even see it?

Do you remember where it is?

Can you find the DAMMIT button without looking away from the road?

I don't want to reach around all under there.

If "OH SHOOT!!!" happens, I want control RIGHT NOW!

What a stupid world we live in -where function takes second place to LOOKS.

For me I can get to it easy if I had too, I'm 6ft so I can still reach it with out taking my eyes off the road. It’s in a good place for me, out of the way of other things but still very assessable if that “OH SHOOT" happens to me. It works good for me, but everyone is different.

I can get to mine very easy, and the "Oh son of a biscuit...Hold on" button is very easy to get to without looking, at least on mine! But I guess everyone's equipment is not as easy to work as mine! If needed I drop my left hand, push the button from the front side and it activates the brakes as hard or soft as I push! I guess every system has it's ups and downs to it, some are easier to use than others... mine is easy and I do not want to see it in the way! It is neatly tucked away and no one knows it is there!

I see it every time I get in the truck.
When I need to find it its right where I left it last time, and the time before that, and the 50,000 miles worth of times before that...
I always remember exactly where it is.
Yes, I can find the manual lever without taking my eyes off the road.

And since I mounted mine in the "standard" spot, everyone else who drives my truck knows instinctively where to reach if they need to brake. But, since we drive like normal people, we always leave enough distance between the car in front as to very, very rarely need to use the manual slide.

Also, I don't want to rewire the whole truck, running extra wires all the way up the dashboard to mount the controller on top, where I'd have to reeaaaach up to grab it, where my hand would catch on the lip of the dash, and where it'd flash numbers and lights at me every time I tap the brakes. Yeah, that's MUCH safer than the tried and true method of mounting near the knee.

Maybe you need a smaller truck where you can reach it easier? I've never been in a vehicle that DIDN'T have the brake controller mounted near the right kneecap, easy to reach, and easy to see. My radar detector is also mounted HIGH, above the rear view mirror, as not to limit visibility.

This is my 1999 truck... the 2002 has the Prodigy controller in the same spot as the Voyager in this picture.

well like i said (and others) it's up to the user where they feel comfortable mounting the unit. again, mine is mounted on the pop out cup holder/ash tray with the wire droped down to the plug. as i only tow on weekends i remove it when not in use. i'm 5'-7" and my daughter is 5' and we both drive(and tow) the horse. with my controller on the cup holder both of us can reach easily to apply the trailer brakes when the horse decides she wants to "flex her musclesand do a little dance". we also leave plenty of room but things are a bit different with 1200/2400LBS of live load. as said to each their own.

I did. Mine is mounted with industrial Velcro and it works great. I can easily remove it and put it in my other vehicle if needed.
