97 PSD Engine "bucks and stalls"

Hey guys newbie here.

I have a 97 F350 PSD with 74,000 miles. Everything is stock on the truck. I have changed the water pump, thermostat and that sensor you guys always say to change and have a spare of.

I've noticed that on cold mornings, whether I remote start or start it with the key, it runs for five minutes and stalls out. It continues to do this three or four times. After 15-20 mins, I start to drive it, it's apparently still cold. I take it on the highway and as I am driving it, it will "buck" forward, like jump forward (best explanation I can think of). My drive to work is about 20-30 mins and the truck will continue to do this until 15 mins into my drive. Then it stops and runs normal.

A couple weekends ago I went out to PA (an hour away) to see my parents. I started the truck up, it was a cold night. I fueled up and got her warmed up (after bucking and stalling out a couple times). The drive back was fine until 45 mins into the ride, the truck start bucking again.

Any help would be appreciated.

96 would do the same thing, changed the oil and hasn't done it since. I'm guessing something plugging the flow in the filter? This was years ago, so it almost had to be in the oil/lubrication system. Must be a low oil pressure shutdown system on these motors just like CAT. Anyhow, hope this atleast gives you an idea of where to start!

If the oil level is too low the injectors will not fire due to being energized by high pressure engine oil.

its a good safety feature! makes it almost impossible to lock one up due to lack of oil
