Ford 292 Hose?

I'm driving a few hours tomorrow to buy a running Ford 292 for my '56 F100 and there appears to be a hose coming out of the engine block below the generator bracket. Is it supposed to be there or did someone add it?

Could you show us a picture of it? Are you sure it isn't just the lower radiator hose?

The heater hose return has a tee in it that it hooks up to. This is a pre dis-assembly picture of my 292. You can kinda see the tee in the bottom picture. It is in the line going to the top of the intake manifold.

Where does the hose which branches off at the tee go?

The hose going to the left goes to the heater (actually it is the return from the heater) and the tee branch goes to the nipple coming out the side of the block just below the generator.

I ended up buying the engine and the hoses in question are to the transmission cooler. It had hoses on both sides of the block.

Ahh yes, I see.

I knew those two hoses running to the left go to and from the heater, I just didn't know where that other hose which runs of the tee goes to.

Makes sense, mine is a 4 speed manual transmission.
