Windsheild rattle

Can anyone help me out? I have a 2005 supercrew and there is this annoying rattle at the base of the windsheild, like the plastic is rattleing. Only really does when hit 50 mph and faster. I checked the plastic and it seems sollid.

Thanks!

Check the center of your windsheild cowl on the outside. Sometimes they can become loose.

Might be your windshield wipers. Mine rattle a little now that I've added a bug shield.

I agree with Black Lariat, cowls can get loose. Can't remember what year, but there was an issue with the mounting tabs. Try to remove them and test drive. You may need to add a screw in the middle of the two sections.

A couple of guys have added a screw in the middle and screwed the two sides together into the cowl. If you do a search, you should be able to find it. I beleive one of the guys has some pics of what he did. Got to love all the plastic crap on new vehicles!!

Yup. I had to add a screw in the middle. My drives side cowl was visibly higher than the passenger side. I also added one on each half of the cowl going down into the rain sill(?).

Mine had a rattle like that when I took it to the dealer 2 weeks ago and they found it to be the dash pieces on the end. They took them out and put some foam under and the noise is gone. Now the other side is doing it so back it will go.
