interior lights do not turn off

Hi, recently purchased another ton truck and have been going through the bugs. Got all the power locks working, painted it, replaced one of the back glass windows. Now I'm getting down to the fines.....This is an 01 crewcab F350. Interior lights stay on at all times when bulbs are installed. Even when running. Is this a problem from one of the doors, or from the dimmer switch in the dash? No door ajar lights stay on while running with door shut. What I'm really looking for is, which wire should I be probing? Or is it just the switch? The dimmer works as it should on illumination of gauges. Any color codes of wires here could really help me get this thing back to normal without spending hours on it just for a convienence light. All the map lights work fine on the toggles. I'm sure I can figure out whats wrong if I spend enough time, I'm just not interested in spending that much time! Hoping someone else has already went through the motions and did the work for me! Also, if I leave a door open and turn key to accesory, the truck chimes. I have already pulled the wire off the ignition that reminds you to remove key. So what's the deal with that? I'm fairly familiar with these trucks, have an 00 just like it with no problems whatsoever. Any help here is appreciated. Thanks guys!

Your door switches ground wires that come from a GEM module. The GEM module then communicates the door switch info to the cluster and a interior lamps relay located in the underdash fuse box. This controls domelights. A common problem with these units are windshield leaks getting the fuse box and the GEM module wet, making them fail. Look for water damage.

Does the Door adjar light come on when a door is open? Maybe the lamp for the door ajar light has burned out from one of the door sensors staying on. Do they turn off if you are above 15mph?

I'll have to check on that cangim. And I have no idea on the 15 mph issue. I'll be using this pickup tomorrow, so I'll get back on here afterwards and give my findings.

I have a similar issue with my 97 F-150. Every time it rains or there is heavy humidity, the "Door Ajar" light stays on and the interior & cargo lights stay on draining the battery. They don't even shut off until I get to 45 mph & sometimes never shut off till I pull the fuse. Q-?: Could it be a combination of a back micro-switch in the door & the interior lights relay? I have checked for water leakage & the fuse box & floor under the fuse box are dry. Q-?: Is there a way to bypass the micro-switches in the doors so they never send info to the dash dummie light?

I am sure you could unplug the switches in the doors, but your domelights won't work at all along with the dash light.

FIRST, check real well for water stains/leaks on above or near the GEM module. Primary cause right there.

THEN, if the problem still exists, you can unplug the switches (in the door, under the latch) one at a time till the dome light/dash light goes out. The switch you pulled when the light went out is the problem. The last time I bought a switch, it was about $11.

Alternatively, unplug lights and lose functionality.
