100K Warranty - will a snow plow void it?
#16
when I bought my truck, I bought her used from a Ford dealership, and they gave me an extended warranty up to 75K. So extended warranties do exist.
as for the plow. I can't say whether the FGAWR is an indication of the truck having a plow package on it or not. But if it does have the plow package then Ford can't void the warranty on it, b/c you put a plow on it. Unless of course you put a plow that is grossly oversized for the truck.
One a side note, a few years back I was looking at a 2006 F-150 XLT 5.4L SCab with a HD payload package and a plow package on it. The Ford website said, indeed they could put a plow package onto the F150 that year. So went to my local dealer, and chatted with this guy. He argued with me for a half hour saying there was no way I could put a plow on the F150.
So then we went to the Sales Manager, who corrected his sales guy and said yes that was an option.
Then we went back out into the yard again to look at F-150's. none on the lot with the plow package.
I asked could I order one, he says yes, but... (and this was the best part) since it had the HD payload package on it, it essentially had a 250 frame on it, and if I put a plow on that it would void the warranty, even though it came with a factory plow package. Another argument ensued about how ridiculous a statement that was. Then we ended up leaving in disgust.
Went to a second Ford Dealership, and within 5 minutes of talking to that sales guy, found the truck I wanted, with all the option I wanted.
After that I sent a letter to the General Sales Manager and to the Chairman of the Board of the first dealership. Told him all the problems I had with the sales guy (and really I didn't list all the BS statements he made, here), and how managed to find the truck I wanted with another dealership. I got a letter a few weeks later from the Sales Manager saying the guy had been fired, and they apologize for the inconvenience I was caused.
